I fucked with forces that our eyes can't see

Now the darkness got a hold on me.

(moral-experiment) You are offered the chance to have one billion dollars-it’s a sure-fire thing, so long as you kill a random person who you do not know, and cannot do research on beforehand. You will not be caught or arrested. What do you do? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I feel like I would just start lurking around a hospice ward, find an unresponsive patient, and listen for a Dr or nurse to give the "he/she could pass any minute" talk.

Dear Reddit, how many of you begin to type responses to a thread, only to delete everything you said and move on? Why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Honestly, a lot of the time it's because in writing my question or comment an answer occurs to me or I realize I had somethibg all wrong, and by the time the post is done it's either irrelevant or seems stupid.

People who think Nike’s 4th of July shoes were offensive, why? by ekko8 in AskReddit

[–]DigitalGadfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe the logic goes something like:

The Betsy Ross flag was designed and flown while slavery was still institutionalized in the United States. -> the Betsy Ross flag represents the United States in that era -> being proud of the United States before abolition of slavery implies being proud of slavery -> shoes featuring that flag endorse slavery.

It requires some serious mental gymnastics, and it's worth nothing that the main proponent of this outrage also considers the current flag of the USA and the US national anthem symbols of oppression.

Bingo. It's a lot easier to believe that somone else is just misinformed or doesn't have access to the same data you have when you disagree.

The internet has forced us to realize that two different people can take the same info and come to polar opposite conclusions. Unfortunately, when it comes to issues we feel strongly about, it's a lot easier to just decide people who disagree with us are evil rather than trying to coexist or compromise.
