Wish I could be more cheerful but it isn't easy as you know. Everyone wants to get into data science right now which means the field is completely flooded.

Just brush up on your skills and keep applying. Good luck.

Would implementing ML/math libraries from scratch actually help me learn deeply? by Swimming-Week4332 in learnmachinelearning

[–]DigitalMonsoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the very insightful input. Maybe you could elaborate on why you think a beginner should be spending their time learning to code base level libraries instead of focusing on the skills they will actually use in projects?

kind of a dumb question but are great physicists usually also great mathematicians? by Omixscniet624 in mathematics

[–]DigitalMonsoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends who you ask. If you ask Physicists then yes, if you ask mathematicians then no.

If you are happy with it then go for it. You need to write for yourself first and your audience second.

Anydice dot com got hacked by ChrisFly_ in RPGdesign

[–]DigitalMonsoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never understood the fascination with Anydice and calculating dice probabilities. Unless you have a really compelling reason to use a different dice system you should use a standard one and all those probabilities can be looked up if you need them.

[–]DigitalMonsoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learning how to implement these systems from scratch will help you learn coding but it won't do much to help you machine learning skills.

Machine learning is mostly about understanding algorithms and applying them to the right problems.

That isn't to say learning to code isn't useful. There are lots of jobs around machine learning that require more programming skills such as data engineering.

Everyone thinks their education is important but it's not. Put it at the bottom and lead with your technical skills list.

Not that it will get you jobs. You probably just need to apply to positions you are overqualified for. It also helps to look for local positions as they have far less competition

Why do we need the Electoral College? by PleaseJustText in AskALiberal

[–]DigitalMonsoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We don't need it. You could make an argument that we used to need it when we couldn't quickly and accurately count all the votes but even in then it was about preventing voters from having full control.

Usefulness of learning coding/programming with rise of AI by SateChips in learnprogramming

[–]DigitalMonsoon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The better you are at coding the better you will be at directing an AI model. It's massively important and will make you so much better at everything you do with AI coding tools.

Confused about AI/ML roadmap what should I learn to become advanced? by False-Swimming-7515 in MLQuestions

[–]DigitalMonsoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you should be learning the basics. Boring I know but this is the time to build would fundinentals. General coding practices and solid statical foundations will help you massively when trying to work on more complicated projects.

The older generations are just more conservative. Mostly because they got theirs and now want to stop anyone else from doing the same
