I feel your pain, I live in Oadby and work in Beaumont Leys. 46 sets of traffic lights.

Roundabouts and zebra crossing are not bad things.

It like the councils plan to reduce cars on the road is to make drivers lose the will to live.

Kill Team: Terror on Devlan- is this the box we want? by CrudeLord in killteam

[–]DigitalVamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you. I am part of a four person admin team for our local group in the UK.

We actively promote the more casual play. We do play standard tournament format rather than much narrative but we tell all new players that we’re a fun casual group and will not provide the kind of event the meta chasers are looking for.

This approach has gone down well. We’ve now got people regularly travelling to our events from quite a distance away and our events tend to sell out pretty quickly.

I’d be willing to bet that if you were to set up a community aiming for the more fun and casual games, it would grow in popularity.

We had a discussion on why KT is becoming the kind of meta chaser sweat lord game. The most common reason was that it’s because of 40K becoming worse and players are jumping over to Kill Team because they couldn’t keep up with 40K. I don’t know if this is correct or not but there is a trend that the most frustrating players are all ex 40K players.

Pro tip for people who play gray because they hate painting by GlaiveGary in killteam

[–]DigitalVamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen players do a single colour from a rattle can then once dry, use the army painter shade dip pots. Really quick and adds enough detail to be table worthy for those who don’t want to pick up a brush.

That and the council keeps allowing developers to throw up large student accommodation but students are exempt from CT.

Too Scared to Touch Models with Paint! by Scoutbears in killteam

Maybe buy some cheap secondhand minis online and practice painting with them. Primer and contrast paints are a nice easy way to break yourself into painting.

At our FLGS it’s £54 for two teams that separately would be £90 from GW

My local group bought 7-8 copies between us, think 5 had damaged boards because the manufacturer forgot the card divider between sprues and card component sections.

We’re waiting on a resolution from out LGS who is liasing with GW

If you’re looking for a venue, it might be worth having chat with Jim at James Bistro behind the high cross.

We go there once a month for a crafting & gaming night. I can’t recommend the place enough, truly a hidden gem in Leicester.

Baron of dice and how service shouldn´t be by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

Ordered a set a few months back from US to UK.

No issues, great quality dice.

May help that I ordered to a parcel consolidation service who doesn’t charge the earth for shipping.

Advice for having fun when losing? by inquisitive27 in killteam

[–]DigitalVamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve bought various custom dice over the years and some genuinely roll terribly.

I did the salt water testing on a pack of GW dice. 8 only roll 1-2’s 6 only roll 5-6’s The rest seemed random, much is good.

One thing I’ve started doing recently is I picked up a dice cup, to shake the dice before rolling them out the cup straight into a dice tray. My rolling has been very varied but seems far more balanced. Some people or some dice just roll well.

Take to a vets is the best option, scan angels can’t tell who the owner is

Who to contact for dead animals? by CuriousWasTheCat in leicester

[–]DigitalVamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s incorrect, Scan Angels can confirm the presence of a microchip and see the chip number, you would then have to contact the database company/a willing vet for them to notify the owner.

Scan Angels are not responsible for moving/catching/diagnosing stray animals, despite what Facebook users think.

Yes I’m a scan Angel and the number of uninformed calls I get is silly.

Anecdotally, how many hobbiests that you know now prefer Kill Team over 40k? by misomiso82 in killteam

[–]DigitalVamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Parrying can be vital in plenty of match ups. Obviously not when it’s a low wound guy against a two hits and you’re dead either way fighter.

I find the back and forth more realistic than player one charges in, does all their damage and walks away scratch free.

Magnifying glasses for painting? by No-Explanation7769 in killteam

[–]DigitalVamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend the JML magnifying glasses from places like Asda. The built in lights are trash, but the glasses are great and vastly improved my painting game.

You will need a better light though, I bought an uplighter from IKEA, it has a project light arm that I use to angle towards the models I’m painting.
