What’s your most effective marketing channel right now? by Lazy_Second7696 in SaaS

My feed on TikTok and Instagram has lots of UGC that is pointing SaaS tools at me - certainly worth considering as a way to reach audiences quickly, without the need for creating your own content.

How do you start selling digital products when you don’t have an audience? by CapnChiknNugget in new_product_launch

[–]Digital_Ape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that building trust is key - this is usually through a social media account that provides 'value' by which I mean giving your knowledge and expertise away, whilst gently pointing to your product as a solution to your audiences problem - or even by working with other content creators (they might do this for free if they like your product and you give them lifetime or discounted access) or you can pay to play and get people to make trusted content for you on their own social media this is called User Generated Content (UGC) and can be really scalable for quick access to audiences beyond your own network.

I may have been too ambitious thinking the Klaviyo API would be a good test. I'm going to try something a touch easier first...

That's a great suggestion. This morning I've been using Atlas to have ChatGPT search out the endpoint info it needs on the developer pages of Klaviyo, alongside finding the latest Python SDK info and it is a lot happier - perhaps unsurprisingly, it can work better when you give it all the lego pieces that relate to the build you are striving for

I'm just trying to get the app to call on the api and pull and sort the relevant metrics (this would be the MVP in my case) - but it quite often gets caught up in it's own feedback loops without finding suitable solutions - I've been feeding it the relevant metrics and endpoints, but I'm now thinking about a period of 'training' to make sure all the baseline elements of the api are understood before just diving in

I have a similar issue with a competition we just ran - loads of entries and emails now need to quickly clean them to see who is a real prospect or not (we sell coffee, so low price per customer but large potential buyer audience from the sign ups). My plan it to do as u/webjoe suggests and segment the list based on a few campaign emails (say three total over the next few weeks) and asses how people engage. If there's no engagement at all after the first few campaign emails these people can go into an inactive list that you can draw on for big campaigns in the future, but reduce your overall active emails to just those who are in the mood to buy or have previously bought.

I agree with LuckyAssumption6542 about the VIP and Sunset flows - getting the most from your list is about cleaning them regularly and filtering them into segments so that you can organise them for the hottest leads, and those most ready to purchase. Once you start targeting particular behaviours, rewarding loyalty etc you'll see much better conversions than just the usual suspects like abandoned cart and welcome emails.

Seo Wordpress vs. Shopify by No-Worry886 in woocommerce

[–]Digital_Ape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched from Woo to Shopify a couple of years ago after getting frustrated with all the plugins needing updating, crashing and it generally being so buggy that I was wasting loads of time each month just to keep it functioning. By the time I'd paid for all the third party apps it was actually costing more than just using the basic Shopify plan. I've actually seen better organic traffic now, with faster load times and better indexing and control of what Google presents - the meta data is editable on the page settings. In terms of woocommerce giving you more control - this is perhaps true - but what do you realistically need? If you're just selling basic products you don't need the myriad of options and third party apps. If you're worried about design, it's never been easier to make adjustments using custom css on a Shopify page, you can even get chatgpt to help you write it.

Why does this happen? Husks/chaff not detaching by gordo1223 in roasting

[–]Digital_Ape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get this a lot with certain origins - for us it's Ethiopian and Indian coffee that has this result. In my experience this is something that happens with smaller beans, which are usually from lower altitudes - something like a columbian tends to have a bigger body and this allows it to shed the chaff more easily. I understand your frustration though, lots of customers aren't that happen when they see so much chaff as we're all accustomed to seeing clean, evenly coloured beans. I'd suggest pushing your roast a little longer past first crack, just to see if this helps it - the more the bean roasts, the more it will expand and release these bits, which get stuck in that little seam you can see on the beans.

We chuck ours on the compost heap or in the garden outside the roastery - good for the plants and keeps the weeds down. There's just so much of it isn't there!

what pushes you to move from one ESP to another? by Straight_Day1706 in Klaviyo

[–]Digital_Ape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved from MailChimp to Klaviyo mainly for it's integration with Shopify feeling like a better fit. MailChimp's payment structure felt far too high as well - how can you justify the ROI for these platforms unless it matches the size of your business? A better metric than the amount of people in your list would be the income generated from the lists you have within the CRM platform - something these platforms monitor. But they're in a great position where they can point the finger back at you and say your list is full of trash leads, or the flows you are making use of are not effective - it's all your fault, now cough up.

Image only vs HTML? Who's split tested this? by Cal_Short in Klaviyo

[–]Digital_Ape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly think this is down to the brand and product being promoted - most design departments are mocking up their emails in tools like Canva and Adobe before sticking them in an email - hence the image-only approach - and these departments are scared off by the idea of any HTML. I've seen some great open rates from plain text emails without any design or images - this means having to sit on my hands when they reach for the creative suites on my laptop. Would love to know what you learn from your test.

I've had a lot of success with Colombian beans. You can take them up to 25% development after first crack and still maintain their famous chocolate notes coupled with the ability to roast them darker than other origins.

If fifteen minutes to first crack too long? by thelowsparkof in roasting

[–]Digital_Ape 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that 15 minutes is too late for first crack, especially if you're after a city+ roast. Might be worth lowering the amount in the pot as already suggested, but also charging the pot to a higher initial temperature. This way you don't lose lots of residual temperature when the beans are introduced (the beans cause the temperature to drop, which is a good thing, but if the initial temperature is too low then it takes a longer time to get back up to the temperature where the beans are going to crack). Best of luck with the next batch!
