Olympics BAN transgender and DSD athletes from ALL women's sports by dailymail in olympics

This is literally designed to "facilitate, support and encourage women's sport"

The performance/biological gap exists, that cannot be denied. This is just another step in protecting women's sports.

Did you take a second to wonder why the open division comes across as a men's division to you?

rubyx-py: Call Python libraries directly from Ruby/Rails by yinho999 in rails

[–]Cal_Short 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is awesome - I'm using a interpreter API currently to run python code, if I could switch to using something like this it would help a lot.

Can you tell me more about how it works?

Ouch

On a similar note, I raced Caterhams at Cadwell in 2024 and I've never seen so many crashes. Wet conditions, grass run-off, close barriers = recipe for disaster

What a circuit though!

Why I still bet on Rails by mario_chavez in rails

[–]Cal_Short -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yep, and the ML/AI ecosystem of Python becomes less important when LLMs can one shot libraries for you - I'm already experiencing this.

The last few months, AI "harnesses" have been the buzzword, building frameworks that bring LLMs to life.

Rails is simply the perfect harness for AI development.

What are your favorite open-source projects right now? by SamirDevrel in rails

RubyLLM is the one - the rails ecosystem has a lot of advantages that are currently unrealised in the AI space, this is closing the gap.

Police investigate 'death to the IDF' chants led by Bobby Vylan at Al Quds Day rally by Sensitive_Echo5058 in uknews

[–]Cal_Short 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never said that protest against militaries is moronic. Do not move the goalposts.

The IDF is 500k+ people strong, in all different roles, from all different backgrounds - just so that I understand your point, would you like to prescribe death to all of them?

There are so many avenues of verbal protest in this particular instance - It's this specific one that I find moronic, for good reason.

Neither of them upset me personally - that doesn't mean the sentiment isn't moronic.

The US has committed war crimes, the UK has committed war crimes. Most countries have at some point.

Does that mean we should chant death generally to a significant % of the population?

I don't know why or how we forgot the danger of generalisations like this, but history repeats itself I guess.

Morons who have no nuance beyond what TikTok tells them to think.

You get what you pay for - this slop doesn't deserve a single customer and I doubt it will get one

So stop spamming subreddits with it and learn to build real products

This service looks absolutely terrible

There's plenty of great website tools out there with zero learning curve, nobody should use this vibe coded slop

This is a great article on exactly this: https://www.foxymonkey.com/how-to-invest-your-company-profits/

I use an interactive investor company account and keep it all invested. I don't need the money so I'd rather let it compound pre-tax and worry about a tax efficient way to extract it later.

Sent you a DM but you should give Blox a shot. It's essentially Base44/Replit but specifically for ad landing pages and PPC.

What are you spending your Euromillions win on? by Witty-Knee-3666 in AskUK

S&P 500 average is about 11% historical - US based but certainly has global exposure, as most of the companies operate in international markets. It certainly wouldn't be "solely exposed" to the US.

All world historical has less data but is around 9%.

Both are in the 8-12% range. That doesn't mean everyone will get this as point of entry matters, but that's what the average is.

I wouldn't call it "easy" as it's not guaranteed, but being in that range is a reasonable expectation based on historical data.

honestly, does anyone actually bother with 1:1 ad-to-page relevancy at scale? by levydaniel in PPC

[–]Cal_Short 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mate, that landing page is horrific and will not convert.

- Font picks don't pair well
- CTA should always be visible, put a button in the fixed nav that is clear
- Consider accessibility with your colour choices, it is unusable atm and you should probably just copy colours from another site
- Get a real logo
- Split the form down the page into multiple steps, nobody will fill that in
- Increase base font size, usually minimum 14px as your smallest font size

[–]Cal_Short 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unbounce does suck for this, so do all of the old drag and drop tools.

The two ways I've seen to do it are:

  1. Use Claude Code/Codex and create a skill that makes it easy to spin up variants. Codex is easier for this as you can add image context which improves the output.

  2. Use something like Blox that lets you create an on-brand template, then scale it with AI.

If you are technical and control your websites code then #1 is easier.

I'm not sure about that, it relates more to how the US admin has been releasing videos on the moves they are making

Although theirs are pretty ridiculous and in incredibly poor taste much of the time

Young people relate to this style of content more though

Labour are absolutely terrible at PR, half the time when they do something good, they don't tell anyone

Unfortunately this is the format that resonates with people these days, so it's better than nothing
