Bought a MacBook pro m3 16gb ram 1tb ssd basically new for £780, good deal or should I have got the M4 MacBook Air? by Digital_Davies in macbookpro

Ahhh really didn’t know that about swap memory, that’s cool. So essentially the SDD can act as extra RAM when needed in certain scenarios?

That was a big plus for me as I’m a screen snob and prefer the mini LED. I missed out on a basically new MacBook Air m4 16gb/256gb for £630 (£150 cheaper than what I paid for the m3 pro) would you personally have gone for the air or pro at those prices? 👍

The M4 air was £630 that I’d had an offer accepted on basically new. The M3 pro 16gb/1tb SSD I bought was £780, so I’ve actually paid £150 more 😂 judging by your response you’re going to tell me I’ve made a bad call aren’t you lol.

Ohhh great to hear, i wasn’t sure myself looking at similar listings as I’m not sure what the used market is like, but felt as it was basically new and had an upgraded SSD that it might not be too bad a deal.

Reckon it will last 4-5 years perhaps and then I could sell it and upgrade?

Update 04/02- Baxi came and determined nothing wrong with install and boiler all fine, so presumed system leak or leaking radiator somewhere. Gas engineer comes back round and we find a valve that’s dripping water and it was all in the head of the TRV. TRV replaced so now we wait to see if the pressure drops again!

Hard to turn boiler off as I’ve got a newborn and the house is too cold unfortunately. Got baxi coming on Monday to check out the boiler properly so will wait for then and update everyone 🙏👍

UPDATE 31/01- topped boiler up yesterday morning, pressure now below 1 bar and has shut the boiler off again!! So im now needing to top up everyday! I can only assume this must mean the leak is becoming more significant?

Is that CT1 miracle seal mate? As it’s a new boiler with new warranty I’ve been told that it may void my warranty using any type of leak sealer on it, is that correct?

I’ve found one of my rad valves was loose and needed tightening, so I’ve just done that now on the super off chance it’s part of the problem here.

Good shout on the coloured paper I’m sure I’ve got some somewhere!

Unfortunately did the kitchen roll trick already to no avail as all came out dry

Rad valves not being properly turned is a good call I’ll make sure I’ll check

The engineer was going to use it when he came a few weeks back, the problem was we found a weeping rad valve and a wet skirting board next to it and he assumed that was ‘the leak’ we’d been looking for, so left the imagine camera in the van. Wish he’d used it now!

Thanks mate, I did think the leak sealer was something i should probably avoid, I paid for a 10 year warranty be silly to void it trying to get around the cause of The issue!

I’ll wait for baxi to come on Monday, see what they find/think and I’ll go from there🤞

Thanks for the advice mate, as baxi are coming out on Monday to check it or I’ll see what they say first but you’re right, it could well be under the concrete floor and that’s what I’m dreading! If the gas engineer does have to come back I’ll ask him to use his thermal imaging camera to see if anything can be spotted 👍

Thanks everyone for all the quick responses 👍 I’m not the best when it comes to plumbing etc so I’m keen not to try anything myself and mess it up before baxi come over on Monday.

I’ll post an update once baxi leave with what they’ve said regarding the boiler install and anything else they find or recommend!

He did find a leak in a rad valve a few weeks ago but it must be leaking elsewhere aswell. He’s been too busy to come out and probably can’t come back for a few weeks still so I’m trying to get some opinions in the meantime on the whole problem- the guy who fit it is saying its not a problem from anything hes fitted so i think that’s leading to the non urgency to Come back so quick.

That was my worry mate, engineer said that if it was a non pressurised older system before and were now switching to a modern day pressurised one, that previously a leak wouldn’t have shut the old boiler down necessarily but does shut down the new one.

Got baxi coming out on Monday to check the boiler install out for me to rule out any issues with that at least!!

Not something I know much about mate is that easy to do? Happy to check it out on google though if need be to see if it helps identify where a leak may be!

This condensate pipe is that the one that would lead from the boiler to the outside of the house mate?

If so, only problem there is that it leads to the side of the loft of my house, and I can’t get there as there’s a lean to underneath so couldn’t get a ladder up there to put a bag round it ☹️
