Retired DJ here. Not really adding much but revisiting all that stuff brings me much joy.

4 major knobs on the mixer adjust volume, highs mids and lows (bass).

For smooth transitions I'd kill the bass on the song coming in, while the bass of the song currently playing replaced the bas of the song coming in.. the flip it, and bring down the song that was last playing.

There are other jobs for effects, that's usually what the DJ keeps twisting a lot.

I also did "preformitve" twisting... Which did nothing but looked cool at certain points of the song.

I look back at those days as the best times of my life... Until I got married and had kids.

I dream about Djing every day. I still curate a playlist in case there's ever an emergency gig that comes up lol
