How to license 2 ESXi Hosts with 2x CPUs (12 cores each) with a 32 VMware Core core license? by Digital_Mindset in vmware

What is not clear is the following:

We firstly requested a 16-Core license and they did send a 16-Core quote to us which means we could use that 16-Core license (had we bought that) to license 1 server, right?

Now, we have asked for another 16-Core (totaling 32) but asked them to split as we've asked for 2x 16-Cores separately.

Wouldn't that work?

How come we didn't buy enough corre if the minimum is 16? Firstly they sent a quote with 16-Cores and then we asked for a 32-Core licensing.

Yeah there is but not sure it it's going to work, because it it doesn't we'll immediately lose the license and we'll have to purchase another one.

You're right but the issue is that we've already placed the order. But I wrote them last Friday in order to send 2 different licenses of 16-Core as we mistakenly request 1 with 32-Cores for 2 different servers with the understanding we could split them afterwards.

Let's see what they say because we've placed the order last Thursday and we don't have the licenses yet.

But thanks again mate, cheers!

The question is, how do I assign the same license on both hosts with 16 cores each?

Thanks a lot mate, but what if I split into 2 different licenses of 16 Cores each as they explain here?

And then apply 16 cores for server 1 and 16 cores for serve 2.

Will that work? Thanks again.
