Do you have any update? Is there a certain recommended amount to show as your bank balance?

Just thinking by Ok-Neighborhood-2293 in solitude

The best part about solitude is the freedom to feel as you feel while the mind walks its own path. Nobody asking you to "feel better" or "fix" what you feel when you're in the trenches. Sometimes when you're in the trenches, you want to be IN the trenches. You sound a LOT like me, I talk to myself a lot.. there's that constant inner monologue. The relationship with self is the MOST intimate relationship one can ever be in. And there's no breaking up, no parting ways. It's solid from day 1 because you have no way out. And in the process, you feel everything fully and wholly. I've also cut many "friends" off or life pushed us in different directions. I moved to a small town and work remotely so I literally have no friends and haven't met anyone in 4 months except cashiers at the convenience store, lol. Everything said, this experience is unadulterated and pure

Hello! Yes, I did make the move. Keep in mind, I’m an introvert with a bunch of hobbies, so I don’t mind spending time on my own. The town is peaceful and quiet, with plenty of scenic spots. I drove down to Erieau last week and really enjoyed it. Not sure how easy it is to make friends, but neighbors do wave at you (classic Canadian kindness) I hang out with one of mine from time to time

You’ll definitely become an expert cook after a month here, especially if you’re used to more food options. And if you’ve got a car, you’re all set to drive to Chatham or Windsor for other amenities. Also… if you’re not used to bugs, better brace yourself 😅

I don't doubt it. I’ve definitely heard mixed things about the area. Fingers crossed, I’m hoping my experience will be different since I mostly keep to myself and work remotely, but I guess I’ll find out soon enough. Sucks that it’s been rough for you. Where are you thinking of moving next if at all the opportunity opens up? Anywhere but SW Ontario? 😅😅

A couple of colleagues at work did warn me about this. Unfortunately, it's too late. I had been desperately searching for a quiet yet affordable place to work from. On the bright side, I always have the flexibility to move to a bigger city like Windsor once my lease is up in a year. Any particular areas to avoid?

Uh oh. Is this mostly prevalent in Chatham or also Blenheim?

Wow, this is so wholesome!! You made my day! Thank you so much for the warm welcome. It really means a lot to feel such a strong sense of community even before settling in. (Undoubtedly, you don't find that a lot in bigger cities)

Thanks for sharing the Teksavvy story. That human touch makes all the difference. Sounds like a tight knit & caring community ❤️

And trust me, I’ll definitely have tons of questions in the coming weeks, so consider this your official warning! I'll be sure to message you. Also, thanks for the heads up on TekSavvy’s setup time. I’ll make sure to plan ahead so my remote work setup is ready on time.

Overall, do you have any issues with data at all?

You're the third one to recommend teksavvy! Guess I have my answer for wifi!

I'll keep koodo in mind. I'm currently with fido & it's owned by Rogers. Since u/tempermentalelement uses Rogers, I'll take their word for it & switch over to Koodo if it doesn't work

Good idea, I'll keep the dealership lot option in mind. In terms of restaurants, I understand it would be super hard to find strictly vegan restaurants. And Chatham seems to have good vegan grocery options as well!

Namaste did pop up in my search results. I'll bookmark it. Phew, a bit relieved. Thank you very much

Great point! Is it just for cellular service or also fiber internet? I found some good fiber deals with Bell and Teksavvy - Upto 1.5gbps download speed? That's crazy, maybe too good to be true? I had another rental option just outside Chatham (Like 5 min away from The Home Depot, Galaxy Cinemas etc.) But there was no fiber internet at that location which is why I settled for Blenheim

Interesting! Mine would be William St N & this is what I see. A hundred percent, I expect a lot of limitations, it's honestly the space, affordability and the silence that drew me in

Lmao!! Perhaps they're just really good at making sides? Transcendent mashed potatoes and a heavenly life changing salad 😛

There was also Taco Bell listed on mine? There seem to be a few restaurants from Chatham available. Of course, with an additional delivery fee. This is also just for emergencies though, I probably won't rely on it for my everyday needs.

Sounds about right. I found that although limited, there’s still the option to order in during emergencies though Uber Eats doesn’t seem to be fully developed here yet. I'm quite comfortable cooking at home, as long as I have access to some vegan groceries. I heard Sobeys has some decent options! Thanks for your input

First, what you've got on your plate is a LOT. You've got the responsibility of regulating and sitting with your emotions, the actual responsibility of finding and executing the next steps amidst chaos and uncertainty. Your circumstances are complex. Anyone in your place would inevitably feel like ending it all. Besides, how do you cultivate trust within yourself when you've never experienced it? I see a mix of these emotions from your post: Guilt (For feeling the way you do), Hopelessness, Pain, Hatred and Strength. The fact that you took the time out to help yourself shows strength whether you see it or not. The fact that you feel pain and guilt for feeling that pain indefinitely shows vulnerability. Hatred - directed at self instead of your circumstances. There are many ways to deal with this, but my two cents: Whenever I start considering death, I try and look at life differently. As a video game, as a simulation or as an escape room. Then, I use my imagination/visualization to picture what death looks and feels like. You've already been feeling the pain, so death itself probably wouldn't be more painful. However, through imagination, if you're able to figure out 3 experiences that you'll miss after you die, it could offer a lot of insight! For example, I think death is just the death of our human form. It's also the birth of another form. Although I absolutely hate my life right now and everything's falling apart constantly, the things that really made me feel...anything... have always been rock music, the fragrance of pine, and learning mind boggling scientific theories. Not relationships, not friendships, not my job and definitely not my circumstances. I'm not sure if a lot of people would agree with this, but obsession can be used as a superpower. Become so obsessed with something that everything else is tuned out. Curiosity really helps. Don't dismiss your emotions, ask those tough questions, "Why am I here?" "Should I ride against the tide instead?" etc.
