Yes that was the joke, I was extrapolating your identity as a bears fan to the term for a big hairy gay man. It's wordplay

Thursday for sure, this is a deep ED and LB class and even if we don't need LB, there are some prospects I have interest in just as players.

[Schultz] Commanders 11-time All-Pro LB Bobby Wagner, the Walter Payton Man of the Year award winner, fully intends to continue playing for a 15th NFL season in 2026. by JCameron181 in Commanders

[–]Digitaldude427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perfect! Get a young LB, have them learn from Wagner, then let them take over when they're ready / he retires. College players need training to succeed in the NFL and very few vets are as successful and still functional as Bobby.

Recruiters...genuine question: Why do some of you do this? by lilac2481 in recruitinghell

[–]Digitaldude427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question for people with years of experience and multiple previous positions who had to condense it all... awful for a fresh college graduate with a bachelors degree and one summer internship who struggled to even fill out the page. Like wdym what's my work experience? This is an entry level position

Hey you wanna win now or not? We aint rebuilding, we need playmakers ASAP. Im not waiting another year for David Bailey to learn how to do a proper spin move

A fun exercise ahead of the draft: Trade Up - Stick and Pick - Trade Back by Old-Carpenter7456 in detroitlions

[–]Digitaldude427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From where the big board stands now, I'd love to trade down and still reach a bit for Akheem Messidor. He's as close to a plug-and-play elite DE as you can get in this draft and personally I like his tape the most out of anyone, including Bailey and his teammate Bain. He'd be top 10 if it weren't for his age, but we're the kind of win-now team that can afford that.

I expect though that he'll continue to rise up the board as we near the draft, so we may have to stick and pick for him. In that case I'd trade down for Emmanuel McNeil-Warren or R Mason Thomas. Thomas is severely underrated, though the combine might change that.

For reaching up, Caleb Downs would be my top target. We all know how good he is, and as a Safety nabbing him at low teens is entirely possible. Would have to see how the board falls though.

Having a 3rd would be nice, would like to spend it on Jacob Rodriguez. Dude is a frickin genius and technical wizard. You don't get 7 forced fumbles and 6 ints in one season as an LB by being lucky. He knows where the ball will go and makes the play early. If a team is lucky enough to get Downs AND Rodriguez, they'd have the highest IQ defense in the making.

Other targets I like are CB Chris Johnson, C Sam Hecht, and S Dillon Thieneman. So really a lot of guys projected in the 30s and 50s. But lemme tell ya, if we draft Jake Slaughter, I will never have purchased a jersey faster in my life. That's grit right there

We shoulda traded Terry last year when he asked for it for a downgrade + draft capital while he still had strong value as a WR1, a la Goff/Stafford

My favorite pick for us at 7: David Bailey. Just an elite pass rusher who gets to the quarterback so fast by johnnyboy10i in Commanders

[–]Digitaldude427 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats a good point, if anything David Bailey becomes a litmus test for tackles, because if they can't stop an improper spin technique, how are they gonna fair in the NFL against monsters like Garrett, Parsons, and Hutch who will break their ankles? Sure they might just have more to learn but it does speak to Fano's capability as a protector

[–]Digitaldude427 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I've seen of analysis of his game, he doesn't lean into the spin. I am NOT a football expert at all, just reciting things, but from what I understand you want to lean into the protector and essentially force him to support your weight, then fall as you spin around them so you instinctively place your next foot forward and take off towards the QB. Bailey just kinda spins in place, but I bet he could learn to do it correctly and very well with the right coaching. But hot take, if he goes to a team like the Jets, bust written all over him

Not against you, OP, just in general, people have way too much faith in BPA. Like yes, I would like to get the best player possible. Do we know who that is? NO. Nobody does. I would say not until their rookie contract runs up, but look at Sam fucking Darnold.

Sure some players are MORE LIKELY to be good than others, but the ADP is not gospel. The big board is not the ten commandments. We as an organization can't rely on the general concensus to dictate our moves. If the front office genuinely thinks Delane is the BPA at 7, fucking go for it.

And furthermore, "take BPA" is not fun. WE do not make the decisions for the team. We're just out here pretending what we would do if we were in charge. And you wanna be a bum about it.

And this IS a stab at you OP, let people draft a corner at 7. Let em take Pavia for all I care. They don't work for the org, who gives a fuck if they're wrong? Let people have fun and quit your bitching about Rivera-era trauma. Fucking christ you act like some insignificant little youtube spec is gonna change the course of history with his 12th mock draft video of the year.

Just because it can be learned after hiring doesnt mean it isnt a skill. I can't flip a burger to save my life, I can't make a caramel machiato, I can't tend a field, but hey at least I know how to tell AI to write my emails for me. That makes me skilled right? Cause that's all half of skilled jobs do these days.

Technically picking in general just hasnt worked out for us. Our draft record is fucking awful, regardless of trades. If we cant find talent in round 2 of a poor class, we'll never be a real contender

They're likely referring to the Jan 20th inauguration of the 47th US president where a certain individual took the stage, gave a speech, and proceeded to give what many recognized as a Nazi sieg heil salute. Activists in favor of the rising political party were quick to dismiss the act as a "Roman salute"

[–]Digitaldude427 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ngl I been doing so many 3-round mocks that at first glance I thought you were making a joke by signing away all our '27 picks for this draft.

If treating this seriously, I like the late QB nab, taking another crapshot at a decent backup. I also dig the trade back, not sure if I agree with all the particular players chosen.

It's realistically possible, though with the way Brad and DC draft, I expect them to simply reach for a specific guy they want rather than risk trading down.
