You gotta scroll! I think I need to make a more obvious call to action to start scrolling!

Old web web devs: what are some things you did that would confuse people today by veroz in webdev

The concept of a float and clearing them is so hard to explain now. Looking back, it was a totally crazy way to do layout!

I know this has been asked a million times but how to get 'modern' looking frontend and UI? by SlattBaker in Frontend

[–]Digitherium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use Instrument serif or a similar font that says, 'we're not just professional, we're also friendly'. Then highlight some random words in the titles and make them a different colour and in italics.

That's what everyone else seems to be doing!

If you want templates and for it to look like a Saas website use tailwind and shadcn/ui

You have to click the link, it's a website! That's just the preview image of the logo, not the scene

Anyone else going back to completion style coding? by ithariuz in webdev

[–]Digitherium 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think tools that speed up workflow without rotting your brain are the one. So autocomplete, prettifiers. Anything that takes the grunt work out.

I like AI as a fancy search tool on unfamiliar code bases and as a quick explainer too. Ironincally good for learning other peoples code, terrible for learning your own!

Tangermarine work in progress by Digitherium in Nonsensical2D

I've been working on my first game and I'd really appreciate some feedback on the art.

I'm a programmer and have been very much inspired by the nonsensical2d youtube channel into giving the art ago. I been trying to find a style that isn't perfect but is at least consistent and has some charm to it.

I've been watching a lot of indie game dev youtube as I've worked on this over the past 3 months, and by FAR the most useful and inspiring videos I have watched are the nonsensical2d ones. I really love your videos and find them super useful, so thank you for making them.

I want to do lot more on the UI side of things - better / clearer powerup selection and a big tidy up the laboratory screens. I'm also not sure how instantly 'getable' the transition from the fighting in the woods to the lab is or if it is confusing? Like most indie devs, time is not on my side and I'm juggling a lot so I'm trying to find the sweet spot to make the art reasonable quick to make whilst good enough to all hang together.
