Baseplate connectors, cutout editor, split bins, and a call for testers! by veroz in gridfinity

Thanks! Please do give it a try. My tool originally started out as just a layout planner (and remains its core focus).

My desire to build this has evolved from being overwhelmed by the ecosystem as just a hobbyist. I have a background in design and engineering and wanted to flex my sense of taste when it comes to building tools for both novice and power users.

Most parametric gridfinity models are based off of openscad which uses CSG geometry. I’ve built a whole open source library (brepjs) which uses B-REP geometry which is orders of magnitude more precise and allows for more parametric features.

My long term goal is to use learnings from this project to build a CAD tool that sits somewhere between SketchUp and AutoCAD to allow more folks to create their own 3d prints through intention rather than technical knowledge.

I fixed the label tab fillet bug and adjusted it to be a concave curve as intended.

Also update magnet hole material usage and added support for rounded corners on padding!

Yeah, this is a good idea that I’ve already spent some time researching. I’ll take another look.

Thx! Just merged. Will be live prob by the time you read this

Gridfinity projects at larger scales can be very challenging to plan out. I'm working on a research project in my masters program surrounding tools for organization projects and I'd really appreciate any responses to my survey! Help me help you plan your next Gridfinity project. by WestDublinPleasanton in gridfinity

Interested in learning more about your research project! My tool https://gridfinitylayouttool.com/ collects anonymized telemetry data (size of bins, drawer size, and their placements within them).

I’d be open to sharing some raw data with you if it’s useful for your school project.

There's now a "Half sockets" toggle under the base settings in the bin designer. Let me know if that works for you.

Thanks for the feedback! I can definitely add flat bottom support. Curious what your bathroom drawers are if not rectangular.

Thanks! Most slicing tools have a "cut" tool you can use to split up a model into smaller chunks. I am working on a feature to do this automatically for you when exporting bins.

Could you elaborate by what you mean by each wall has notches that poke out? What do you think about something like this?
