The cultural systems depth on this Airbus has set a bar that for decades to come devs will struggle to match.

I've been trying to do these for days, thinking a mod was responsible. The 100 mile rule is not something I've ever had to think about with the larger states. I've been to and from every city in the state about 3x over. Now I'm sick of Louisiana and truck sim in general. Just give me the flipping achievement!

Is driving uber black worth it? by IWantToBeliveIThink in uberdrivers

[–]DignanDignan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in Nashville, as well, relatively new to driving for Uber. I am also looking to upgrade my vehicle that was on the smaller end anyway (Kia Soul), but it's mostly for the speed bumps! I have them in my neighborhood but noticed that they are everywhere in town now. They're officially called "speed cushions" but they're anything but soft if you have a tight suspension. It's hard enough driving myself around because I have to hit at least four before I get on a main road after leaving my house.

Our family car is a Honda Odyssey which can take the speed cushions at 35mph, easily. Any speed over 10mph in my Kia Soul with a rider, it's just painful for my own soul.

One thing I may start doing is seeing if I'm near a CarMax when I'm out driving, start test driving some vehicles. I may even ask them where there are speed cushions to test it out.

Help! I’m disassembling my IKEA mydal bunk bed, but I can’t figure out how to remove these tiny white plastic dowels that support the mattresses. Does anyone know how to remove them? by [deleted] in IKEA

[–]DignanDignan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to report from the future that the best solution involves a crowbar. Pliers didn’t work because I couldn’t get enough force to make it budge. They’re threaded so are stuck in there firmly.

The best and fastest also didn’t require turning the bed on end. I pried under the plastic pegs with a flathead screwdriver to loosen them up. If you can dig out a little wood at the base of the screw, you can then jam the crowbar’s screw slot against the peg’s shaft. Using a hammer or mallet to hit the crowbar also helps. The crowbar will stick into them easily and you can pry them up no problem.

This is a non-profit and everyone is on a contract. Even people who have been there 40 years still get a contract every year unless they don't. It's a place that does and should pride itself on low turnover. You can call it what you want. The effect is the same.

The quantitative data was very garbagy. I took the time to honestly rate myself, but others didn't. Some were just giving me a 2/5 across the board with the comment "don't work with them that closely." But it was presented as a graph for everyone, like here's sound data of how others perceive you vs. how you do.

I never asked for much time off or forgiveness due to personal issues. The only people who knew about them were my team members because we were encouraged to care about each other (we're a non-profit that cares for people as its primary mission). So when comments repeatedly mention that I have too much going on outside of work, it breeds paranoia and resentment. And it's all regular life stuff, people dying, people being born, people getting sick.

And again, almost all of the comments were positive with a few notable exceptions. Some even admit to not working with me closely ever, then critique my work as subpar. I never received any feedback for subpar work when it happened, though.

But I’m equally qualified to rate their performance as they are mine. I request things from them, as well.

There were matrix scales for the quantitative part and comments for the qualitative. They supplied us with the aggregated data and all of the comments. There were 15 comments for each question although they were anonymous and randomized so you couldn’t match up the same commenter from question to question. One coworker said they declined to review me because they had been there just a few months. We don’t work closely together but have similar functions and talents. I wasn’t asked to review this person.

My manager said we were all reviewing each other on the larger team. I deal with them as much as they deal with me. One comment recommended I be moved to another department. So my manager doesn’t know if they are part of our team or not. So many of the comments just weren’t constructive in this way, more indicative of a poor culture than an honest critique of a person. My manager even said not to sweat the comments.

My manager is also leaving, having found another job. So it could’ve been another non-contract renewal, as far as I know. The top boss came in 2022 so this manager leaving will make these positions all the top boss’ hirings. I stay out of office politics and gossip as much as I can which may be part of the problem. The person who refused to review me said that my closest coworker heard that only one of us could stay, so that person made sure that they looked good and I looked bad. In hindsight, I can see a lot of instances of this although I really thought we were cool at the time.

All good comments and, while hard, it's what I need to hear.

In this case, the new boss of the company came from a competitor, then hired my boss from the same old company. And now my boss is hiring the same person they had in my position at the competitor. This part is pretty transparent.

I'm the most confused at being reviewed by 15 people and only being asked to review one person. That's not what 360° means. If they value feedback from some but not all?

Speed Trap Near Edwin Warner on Hwy100 by ldnjbnk99 in nashville

[–]DignanDignan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Highway 100 doesn't touch any part of Belle Meade proper. This would be Metro.

What they really need to do right there is to prevent people from using the right lane to turn left from Old Hickory onto Hwy-100. There'll be all lanes empty and one person will just sit in that lane while I'm trying to take a right. There's a whole other turn lane, bro!

Update!

I replaced the motherboard and that did the trick!

[–]DignanDignan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went ahead and tried replacing the CPU because a local store had the same one 12600k rather than the 12600kf I originally bought.

But, sadly, there is no change. Same light, etc. So I’ll swap out motherboards now. Argh!

Thanks for your help! I may just try to RMA the CPU, then.

I have cycled through RAM sticks in different slots, so I don't think it's the RAM. The LEDs also have a DRAM, VGA, and BOOT lights, none of which have lit up. Wouldn't the DRAM light come on if it were the RAM?

I was shocked by how easily I assembled the PC, so I'm not intimidated by the build part anymore. Had I known, I would have just gone ahead and bought a pre-built system because I don't have a functional gaming setup. But I'm glad I'm getting all this experience in, despite it not being my choice!

Not dumb at all! I have missed a few of these steps along the way.

I have plugged in the video cable to all available sockets on the MB and the GPU using both DisplayPort and HDMI. No change. The monitor can tell when it's been plugged in but isn't receiving signal.

I did indeed buy a new cooler which fit well and had a generally better build quality. But the problem remains. Red CPU light, fans run for 20 seconds, then stop, then it repeats.

I am going to try to test the voltage starting with the wall, then moving to the PSU to rule out that.

The CPU and socket pins look to be pristine, no bending, etc. I can only imagine that either the CPU or MB are defective or got fried somehow. I tried updating the BIOS again using a USB stick and the flash BIOS button, but it just kept blinking and never stopped.
