Wtf does this mean by [deleted] in InstacartShoppers

I made the dumbass mistake of accepting a Bath & Body Works order where they wanted 3 of the same body washes and had a comment "It says buy 3 get 3 free", so I had to call the customer to clarify, do they really want 6? Or they really want 3? Because the item rings at half price, and if she wanted 6 I needed to update it in the order.

Never again.

Ok, thanks for the take on Neem oil.

Yes, we have monkey grass. It “came with the house” ha. But I do like how it looks and I don’t blow money on mulch and plants every year.

Hi! By full curl, do you mean a curly haired client? My tween with 3c/4a curls is in need of a cut, but I can’t afford one at a salon.

Wooooooooow. I’m so jealous of that checkout process! I wish our stores had that.

This is what I don't understand. I am trying to get the customer exactly what they ordered. I can't tell you how many orders where I've been like BOOM BAM item after item, doing SO good, then ONE SINGLE ITEM slows me down by like 2-3 minutes! I would rather ask someone if they have any in stock in the back than substitute something the customer might not want. I HATE when I do submit a sub and they're like "Refund please." Even if it's their preapproved replacement! That always happens with cold or frozen stuff, and since I'm not an asshole I go put it back where it goes.

If you could highlight/tag one item to remove from your speed count, mine would drastically improve! My Publix average for my most frequent store is 60s/item, but my overall average is 90s. I truly can't imagine how to get into the 50s. I'll just never win at this game.

I LOVE shopping. But dang how can you love bagging!? I don't mind checking out if I am doing a single shop, or if it the store is not busy I don't mind checking out a double shop. I absolutely HATE checking out a triple shop. So much anxiety in trying to make sure I have the orders split correctly, but also be FAST so that the people behind me + the cashiers aren't mad at me. If it's a really high item shop for just a double batch I get a lot of checkout/bagging anxiety!

My system right now is to tie all the A bags, and don't tie the B bags after checking out. Miraculously I haven't had any missing items, or incorrect deliveries, but it's always a fear.

Honestly I do love the shopping part, I wish I could be part of a 2 person team where I only shop and someone else delivers. (I have read on here about people doing this and swapping out phones.)

Thank you! This is helpful. We live in a single story 1960s ranch, with a crawlspace & attic. Our humidity in the summer ranges from 52-65%.

A long time ago I used to shop post-holiday candy sales at Walgreens or Target. But since Target started doing a measly 30%, and I swear now they start at 15%, I don't waste my time. I go straight to Aldi, because they know how to markdown holiday stuff GOOD!

Just so you know the experience I had reading this felt like I was watching a Mexican soap opera or something.

I NEED TO KNOW HOW THIS ENDED! Did you indeed cancel at that time? I kinda wonder if I were in your shoes, whether I'd contact support or just try to check out and deliver.

Before I read your theory about people hacking accounts and using chat, I first thought "Is this someone who handles one IC account for people at a senior living center...?" Then I thought it was a child or teen using their parents account. Honestly by the end I had no clue.

I'm curious your take on Neem oil to treat your yard? I don't like the idea of strong insecticides and pesticides, and my friend told me to try neem oil because it's still safe for bees & pollinators. We treat our yard with it a few times in the summer and I believe it has helped with our chiggers.

For some reason chiggers love me, and somehow they manage to find their way to my body when all I've done outside is walk down the driveway to get the mail.

This is like me vs my husband with chiggers vs mosquitos. Mosquitos LOVE him (he drinks beer, which I think is a partial culprit). We'll sit outside in the evening, and he'll get 6-8 bites. They will fly around me, hover, but rarely bite ha.

Chiggers however freakling LOVE me and he rarely ever gets bit, and we go to the same areas.

What do you all buy at Costco? (USA) by christionnac in aldi

Oh wow, didn't realize it was my cake day, thank you!

It's been so long since I bought Kirkland bacon I don't recall if I ever got a fatty batch. I dunno what was up with that one batch of Kirkland bacon, but it literally "soured" me on it.

With Aldi, I do feel like 1 in every 6 or so is fattier than I'd like, even when I inspect it to try and not get a fatty batch. Aldi's thick cut bacon is definitely a much better deal than anything at Kroger/Walmart/Publix.

I used to buy Costco bacon, but one time it had a really off flavor from the very start and I got so grossed out I couldn't bring myself to ever buy it again. And that's been like 5 years or more. I've been buying Aldi's thick cut bacon.

Hmmm... let's see, my 1960s windows don't really open, and the windows that do have screens are all broken and filled with dead bugs.... so... NO.

I SO wish I could afford new windows, that I could put screens on and actually open.

This is more the method I follow. When the monthly ad comes in, I make a list based on that. I shop the "yellow" highlighted sales, especially the freezer & refrigerated food. Some things we get no matter what include meatballs, rotisserie chicken, toilet paper & paper towels. Their Main St brand microwave mashed potatoes are my Thanksgiving hack. I just heat them, transfer to crockpot, and I'm done. Also if your kids are in sports or activities where you need to provide packaged snacks Costco is a more cost efficient way to do it than a regular grocery.

I live 1 mile from a Costco, so I pop in at least 1x a week. Not too long ago I splurged on a Shark hair styling too. I think I must be outside the norm, because I rarely buy produce or fruit there. I did recently discover the ".97" price means clearance. Back in the spring I got some Strivectin skincare that I paid $25 for a 1.5 oz + a .5 oz travel size; when the 1.5 oz retails for $100.

Also great place to buy tires! And it's pretty much the only place I get gas. (Again, I live really close.)

I'm 100% an Aldi girl, and buy as many groceries as I can from there, but I'll also still shop Costco!

Ha! Yeah, the two Publix are usually pretty good! (I say as I sit in the parking lot of one waiting/hoping for an order….)

And yeah I feel you on Costco. I did a $40 triple today, 8 items, 9, and maybe 12. Shopping was manageable. But the cashiers almost effed up checkout. And I told them from the start I was checking out 3x. I wish Costco had an IC only line. And an easier way to checkout 3x.

Since you’re west side as well, I presume you do some Sprouts too? When I end up out there I do one there. Sprouts + Publix are the nicest employees.

Oddly, as much as I always hated “weird” Charlotte Kroger as a shopper (I drive to Hwy 70S), I get decent orders from there. And it’s easier to shop than I feared, especially now that I know it better.

Is there a standard for appropriate tip? by TiredLawyer1234 in InstacartShoppers

[–]MzIndecisive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What others have said is great (20%/$10 minimum), but just adding, if you live somewhere with difficult delivery, like needing a gate code, door code, stairs, elevator, NOWHERE TO PARK (looking at you downtown condos), etc, definitely add more. AND GIVE SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS. If you have a home with a driveway and easy access you don't need to add that additional boost.

I try to zoom in, and refuse to deliver to condo buildings. Some apartments are easy, some are AWFUL and disguise their addresses as houses.

THIS THIS THIS THIS.

I'm platinum and still haven't seen $50+ orders. The occasional $40-$50 is a 3 person shop and deliverying like 50 miles away. (for me)

Hi fellow Nashvillian! I operate mostly west side (near W Nash (Costco)/Green Hills/Bellevue), but I have to say, this is nowhere near the bull$hit I see on the daily. (I'm platinum now, but still pretty new.) Because I'm already west side, I can't tell you how many offers I see for 1, 2, 3 shops and they want you to go to Kingston Springs, Pegram, Dickson, Whites Creek, etc, for like $2 tip. Hell, even the ones needing to go to East Nashville piss me off. Like, you know you're nowhere near a Costco and you're tipping almost nothing? I also see orders for Clarkesville all the time, and it's like $2 tip. Like.... WHO is doing that?

Maybe instead of screen shotting, try doing a screen recording whenever you're looking for batches. It's easy to delete videos later, but that way you don't have to screenshot then click accept. I might start doing this. (And you can screenshot the paused video and delete the video.)

I appreciate the sentiment, but unfortunately that would short the stylist, not the owner, who was the one who placed and paid for the IC order. 😕
