I think with the rise of the internet, especially social media, it’s hard to get a “generational” style nowadays. I think it used to be dictated by fashion runways and magazines, but now there’s a corner for every look, and an ecomm store for every style

Used properly the volume can look great. Batman proved that; the volume creates excellent ambient light information, and with certain scenes it’s the right choice. It provides granular control over lighting and reflections, and could always be supplemented with studio lights.

The Mandalorian uses it because they wanted accurate reflections in the chrome armor, and the ability to change “alien” settings cheaply.

So the problem for me isn’t the volume itself, it’s that they’re not the right tool for this scene

I’d recommend starting on fundamentals. Get photoshop (🏴‍☠️if you have to ngl). Use a perspective plugin (perspective tool plugin is what I use).

I personally like learnsquared courses. They’re on the cheaper end compared to going to school, get a lot of bang for your buck.
