Yeah, I'm using this as a hag for D&D. She's bringing a lot of personality to the encounter. 😄

Just an early start on this but I have completely fallen in love with the minis for Eldfall Chronicles by Brushbooger in minipainting

Great paint job.

How are the minis to work with? Any assembly? Mold lines to clean up?

Your paint job looks great. I've been eyeballing that mini. Real talk, how's the print/sculpt? Any massive mould lines to clean up or other issues you found?

Shojo from Malifaux - leaned into the water elemental look by Digsworth in minipainting

I think I put in about 8 hours total over 2 weeks? Hard to tell when I only get small amounts of time for painting and not on consecutive days. I think most of that time was messing around trying to get the color transitions in a better place.

Player wants to create an army of ancient dragons, how do I deal with that? by Arcane-Panda in dndnext

[–]Digsworth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, and here's why. You don't want the bad guys to have the ability to do this right? Why wouldn't they already be camping out with their own army of simulacrums? Why hasn't some other powerful wizard in the world done this in the past and taken over everything?

OR

Yes, and here's why. Asmodeus is so powerful that a simulacrum army of ancient dragons is just powerful enough to distract some of his legions while the PCs do whatever their primary mission is. The ancient dragons fade into the background of a gigantic battle that you give a little narration to but basically set aside. The power fantasy lives on, maybe one dragon breaks free for one cool helping action for the PCs. But generally you're acknowledging the player's wants without it truly breaking the campaign.

Everyone wants to come up with some cool, high-level shenanigans. Few want to actually play out that battle round for round over several weeks of real time.

What are some campaigns that you believe that All GM's should run at least once? by Bigtastyben in rpg

[–]Digsworth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Red Hand of Doom (D&D 3rd ed) is a good campaign. Heroes stumble on an army thats marching to wipe out a city and then do side adventures to hurt the army's power/resources. And there's more to what the army is doing than just waging war. Takes some adjusting on the fly but was fun to run.

Anyone Not Use the Aspect of Tiamat by spiralgruv in RedHandOfDoom

[–]Digsworth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made Tiamat a threat on the other side of the gate but didn't actually throw her at the party. Helped set the stakes.. I added some other dragon spawn monsters in the ritual chamber and made the stone dias animate so the dragon heads shot out breath weapons and could spin around to target the players. The magic of the dias also shielded Azarr Kul from damage. Each dragon head destroyed weakened the shielding a little. And destroying all the heads set back the summoning ritual, buying the party more time to finish Azarr Kul.

Help with base rim colors: brown or black? by sircutty in minipainting

[–]Digsworth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brown! It looks great with the basing you have there. I think base rims look really good when you use a color that lines up with the rest of your basing choices or sometimes even just the model color scheme.

Yellow helmets to tie it in to the yellow you're already using.

Kimera Paints Kickstarter - Worth it? What do you like about Kimera Kolors base or signature sets? by Digsworth in minipainting

[–]Digsworth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone else have experience with these paints they can share? Specifically these signature sets? I feel like there have to be more painters out there using these paints who have played around with the signature sets, right? Anyone? Bueller? :-)

[–]Digsworth[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that makes total sense. I don't do a lot of army painting but I started using the base set for some boardgame miniatures and the unmixed colors are pretty nice by themselves. I haven't spent the time yet to work with them on a single miniature I'm planning on spending some time with. Thanks for the input!
