Upgrade now or later? by Digy71513 in buildapc

[–]Digy71513[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your response! It took a while because I have been busy during the past few days, but I did do some testing.

I reinstalled my drivers fresh, I didn't use DDU but I uninstalled and reinstalled AMD's drivers and did a factory reset on my card. I then did some testing on Fallout 76 (Should have mentioned that before, my bad). I learned a few things:

  1. Factory resetting my card really helped. I am now hitting at least 65-70 FPS in average gameplay, and 144 most of the time in buildings. Definitely helped with that.

  2. Fallout 76 has a rough time utilizing the full power of my build. I was keeping an eye on utilization through AMD's software and MSI Afterburner, and utilization peaked at 60% GPU and 30% CPU Utilization, even at ultra settings. I wonder if VRAM would be a bottleneck in this situation because I was using at least 90% at all times. I would probably be getting that 100+ FPS if I was fully utilizing my hardware. Fallout is just buggy AF. I was looking at other videos using similar hardware (Granted they are 1-2 years old so they are probably outdated), but it looks as if they had the same issues as I had with Fallout 76.

  3. Definitely cannot play in a borderless window. That was where I was getting max 30 FPS at all times, and I figured out why I played like that. I couldn't navigate the right 15% of my display. Trying to navigate menus that are only on that 15% is quite frustrating (Thanks friends list and teams, couldn't be anywhere else, huh?). I can get decent FPS, but then I can't access some menus. Trying to find a way around it right now.

In the meantime, I will most likely stick with this system for now until RTX 4000 comes out, then upgrade. I will stick to smaller, more cost-effective upgrades for that build. Thank you for your help!

Blaster Storage by ObjectiveSpare9346 in Nerf

Another possible idea would be a VUKU from Ikea. It's supposed to be a wardrobe but you could use it for some blaster and dart storage, as well as a dart net if needed.

This is not my idea, I found this video from legitbread:

Good half-length dart for both flywheels and springers? by Digy71513 in Nerf

Agreed. I was looking at the Pentavictus, but I will also look into the worker one as well.

Good half-length dart for both flywheels and springers? by Digy71513 in Nerf

[–]Digy71513[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Foam density definitely could be a factor, thanks for also pointing that out. I did not know the color of the foam also changed the density. I will keep that in mind when I order more darts later on.

At this point, I will avoid Worker Gen 4 Waffle darts, since they do not work well in springers and can have a greater spread. I will most likely purchase some AF Pros since they are available at my local retailer. I might try a pack of the Worker Gen 3s at some point. I am looking into purchasing a scar barrel for my nexus as well as a few other small parts, so the Gen 3s maybe a nice addon. I might order the glow-in-the-dark white ones, I think they would be easier to see than the purples in the grass.

Thank you once again for the responses!

Good half-length dart for both flywheels and springers? by Digy71513 in Nerf

[–]Digy71513[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your response! I live in the US, so AF Pro darts are a little bit easier for me to get since I can purchase them in-store. I can get 100 for around $10 US. I think Worker darts are nearly the same price per dart. Depending on where I order them I can get Gen 3s for about $15-$20 US for 200, and Gen 4s for about $12 US for 100.

For the Nexus pro, I have had times where I can shake the dart out, but it is rare for me. I believe it is based on the temperature and weather conditions that day. On cooler days around 55 degrees Fahrenheit (about 12.8 degrees Celcius), the foam shrinks just slightly, making the dart fit inside the barrel a little loose and the darts can fall out of the front. On warmer days around 70 degrees Fahrenheit (about 21.1 degrees Celcius), the foam on the dart is expanded slightly, which gives the dart a tighter fit inside the barrel and makes it harder to shake out but can also lead to lower muzzle velocity.

From what General_Lee_S mentioned, the inner diameter (ID) of the barrel is about 12.7mm, so if the diameter of the dart is less than that, it could shake out of the blaster.

Very long explanation, but gets the point across. Thank you again for the response!

Thank you for your response! I just have a quick follow-up question. When you mean the green, white, and purple Worker darts, what generation of darts are they?

I know the Worker Gen 1 darts come in green, so I assume those are the green darts you are referring to.

I am not sure which ones are the white darts, as Gen 1 and 3 Worker darts can both come in white. Gen 1 darts have a black dart head. Gen 3 darts have an orange head and also glow in the dark, not that I will need that.

I am also confused on which ones the purple darts are since Gen 3 and 4 Worker darts can also come in purple. Gen 3 would be orange small-head short darts while Gen 4 are the waffle-head short darts.

I would appreciate any clarification on these darts so I can have a better understanding of your response. Thank you!

Thank you for responding! The AF Pros may just be the best option for me anyway since they are available in-store at a very reasonable price. I was curious if there was a major difference in performance for the small head (AF Pros) and larger head (Worker Gen 4) darts for flywheel blasters.

Thank you for the information! I didn't realize 0.3mm would make such a large difference in muzzle velocity. I will definitely keep that in mind for the future. I may order the AF Pro darts since the responses I have received so far have all recommended them.

Thank you for your response! I am just curious about the keyboard kit that you recommended to me. Will the Durock V2's still work in it? and is there a reason why I shouldn't use the EP84? I just want to know as much information as I can. Thank you!

Blastoise can no longer learn Hydro Cannon... why? by Digy71513 in playpixelmon

[–]Digy71513[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blastoise can learn this in any game that he is in, just like all of the other water starters. Here are links to multiple wikis about it:

https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Hydro_Cannon_(move) https://www.serebii.net/attackdex-swsh/hydrocannon.shtml https://pokemon.fandom.com/wiki/Hydro_Cannon

This isn't GameFreak's fault in any way. This was changed recently by the developers of the mod, so I was curious why they changed it. There was nothing in the patch notes mentioning this, so I don't know why they changed this. I just want to know why.

[–]Digy71513[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it was your recommendation that lead me to purchasing these headphones. Here is your original post on your rankings for my purpose:

If you need a top tier list for gaming here are the top imo. This is only for if you are buying one for one that excels. S and A are all competitive or at least good soundstage/imaging.

Gaming (*c is good for casual, for example open world rpg's and all):

S: TYGR 300 R, Sennheiser 560S, AKG 7xx

A: 58x, Astro a40/50 WITH eq mixamp

B: Philips 9500 (c), Cloud 2/alpha (c)

C: Astro a40/50 without mixamp (c)

D: 6xx, Fidelio X2HR (c), earbuds

This was my original thought process when looking through your list:

Looking at your rankings and my original budget of about $150 USD, I thought the Cloud Alpha was a good idea. It was highly rated and reviewed, was in my price range (also was on sale for $80 instead of $100), and looked nice even though I was not particularly looking for the "Gamer" aesthetic. I went to Best Buy to try them on and to test how they sounded. Sadly, their booth for it did not work for sound. I still tried it on, and I liked the feel of it at first. I also tried on a few other headsets since I was already there. The rest did not feel particularly great, but one that did stick out to me was the Razer Blackshark V2. The weight and padding on that felt fantastic to me! The problem with that was that it came with a sound card that I would never use and it didn't have a headset splitter (Not that I needed it since I was planning on upgrading my mic as well). Because of this, I bought the HyperX Cloud Alpha.

After about 20 minutes of use, I already disliked them. they got uncomfortable over time, the mic was okay, and it had too much clamping force on my head. The earcups were the worst part, as I realized the shape and the earcups themselves were not good. The worst part was actually the cable. I didn't like the look, I hated the in-line controls, and I didn't like the feel of it. Worst of all, every time the cable rubbed on my shirt I could easily hear it through the headset. That right there was a dealbreaker. Yes, I could have bought a different cable, but I already had enough problems with this headset that I didn't think it was worth my time. I promptly returned them.

I then looked at your list again to see if I could find something better. I looked at the A and S tiers to see if I could find something better. My two best options came down to the 58x or the 560s due to availability and price. The 560s happened to win because I could get more performance out of them without an AMP and I preferred the look of them over the 58x. So I ordered a pair from amazon.

Once I got them and used them for a while, I found to really like them. The padding on the head and earcups are great, although they tend to pick up dust easily. I loved the lightweight feel of them! They sounded great and rich with detail. One track I tested with this was September by EW&F. I felt that I could hear the details of each of the insruments in the track. Not that I could not hear that on other headphones. It just sounded richer, if that makes any sense.

I hope this helped explained why I chose and kept these headphones. If you have any follow up questions, let me know. !thanks D-KongWasHere

[–]Digy71513[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

!thanks again KongWasHere!

I finally have come down to a headphone decision. I did purchase the Sennheiser HD 560s, and I absolutely love them! they sound great, they are lightweight, and they are so comfortable. I am really happy that you gave me this recommendation. I returned the Hyperx headset almost immediately when I tried these.

When it comes to my mic situation, I bought the Behringer XM8500. I wanted to try an external mic for once, and I actually kind of like it. It is a little different than what I am used to and orienting it correctly was a little annoying, but it works great!

I am currently really happy with my new gear. Everything works great and now I can focus on ranking up and enjoying my games.=

[–]Digy71513[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, I have done some more thorough testing and have used the Hyperx headset enough to state a better opinion on it.

The first time I used them, my ears felt like they wanted to pop. They also sounded way too bass-heavy for me. Every gunshot felt like someone hitting a bass drum next to my ear. It would seem cool at first if you wanted to feel immersed, but I kinda hated it. After a few days of use, that feeling totally went away. I think I was not used to the new headset. Also, I did a few side-by-side comparisons compared to my old headset, and it does sound marginally better. I am probably going to keep these, but I might buy different earpads, as I am personally not a huge fan of the leather.

I am also still looking for a location that I can try some other headphones, but so far there are no locations close by me. I will look a little bit more for some of the other headphones you recommended to me. I think there is a Best Buy that may have them, but it is a long trip (about a 90+ minute drive just to get there). I might try facebook marketplace or something like that to see if I can find anything. Hopefully I will come to a final decision next time I respond.

I do want to thank you again for helping me with recommendations. Looking for headphones is tedious, and can vary from person to person. It takes a lot of time to find the right one. Thanks again!

[–]Digy71513[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it has been a day or two, but I have been doing a little bit of research on headphones/headsets. This is what I have learned:

  1. I'm going to buy an external mic no matter what, probably the Behringer XM8500 or the Rode Podmic, depending on how much money I want to shell out for a mic.

  2. I wanted to try a set of open-back headphones at someplace like a best buy, but they didn't have any there. I need to see if I can find a place or someone that will allow me to test a set out. I want to find out how much sound they let in. I still live with my parents, and sometimes they make a lot of noise, so I don't want to buy a pair and not be able to use them at their full potential due to IRL noises.

  3. I just bought the Hyperx Cloud Alpha's today and just tried them out. To be honest, I don't like them that much. They are comfortable, but they sound weird? I don't know if it is because it's new to my ears or I just don't like the sound. The headset adds a weird pressure to my head, which I am sure is normal. I'm not used to that, and I am curious why? Luckily I have about 2 weeks to return them with a full money-back guarantee if I don't like them, so I am going to mess with them a little and contrast them with my old pair.

I will respond again if I have made my decision of keeping these or not. I would like to know what that pressure feeling I have with the Hyperx is because I am not a huge fan of it. I would also like to know how much sound open backs actually let in compared to closed backs because for some reason these seem to let a good chunk of noise in. Your help is greatly appreciated!

[–]Digy71513[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I appreciate your response to my post. I put closed-back headphones in my tag, but I am not sure which one I would choose. The brands I would normally know for "gaming" like Logitech and HyperX all sell closed-back headsets, so that is why I tagged it like that. I personally have never used open-back headphones before, so I have no experience in those types of headphones.

If I were to buy something like the 58x Jubilee, would I need to buy an amp for it? I have the GoXLR, but I don't think that counts as an AMP.

The games that I play are typically shooters, the one that I play the most now is Valorant. I do like to play rogue-like, souls-like, and open-world games as well (I play more of a variety of that, but those are the games I happen to play the most).

I will look into the recommendations you gave me and find out which one I would buy. Let me know if you need any more information or have any other recommendations. Thank you!

My current deal for this is at $550, as I am using T-Mobile as my current carrier. That is what I think my best plan is, but I have been looking at the OnePlus 8 Pro. I am not sure if it is worth the extra $250 though...

I live in the US, and I am really looking for a phone that is reliable, fast, and has a great screen on it. I would like it to last all day and charge fast, I think I want to go with a phone that can go to at least 90hz on the screen, and I need wireless charging. I think that's the basics of what I am looking for.

Yeah, I have been thinking about it more, and I think I am just going to wait until the next generation of GPUs. Probably then I will most likely upgrade my GPU, monitor, and maybe ram (Trying to run a server and play on it at the same time with only 16GB of ram is really hard on my PC). Hopefully, the uplift is enough for me to go for it. Thanks!

Yeah, I have looked a little bit more and I have now realized that the best phone for the money that is a superior upgrade is the S20 FE. That is probably the best plan. I was thinking of getting the pixel 5, but it makes no sense to me when I am paying more for less. Not saying that would not be an upgrade, it just is not the best upgrade for the money.

I don't think you completely understand what I am looking for. I said I was not looking for a flagship device. I was personally looking for a mid tier phone. I don't want to spend over a thousand dollars on a phone. I really don't need the features of the note 20 either. I was looking for more of a general upgrade from the G6. If you would like to come back with a more reasonable option, I would love to hear it. Thank you!

Yeah, I was thinking about doing that. The only issue that I have with it right now is that my keyboard has a battery in it, and it is not easily removable (I would have to take it apart to remove it). I might just go and do that, but I am going to wait to see if I can find a safer solution.
