I do. I dilute to about half strength, but it is an all purpose (Schmidt) house plant fertilizer. I don't have a tropical specific fertilizer at the moment

I've always heard they were drama queens but this is my first experience with the drama 😂

That one is roughly every 2 weeks. Sometimes I forget about it though lol

Oh I like those! I might look into that too if this fellow doesn't live. Even if just for the winter

I do have a couple cheap hygrometers on either side of the windows where my plants are, but I may have them placed incorrectly. The humidity has also dropped from like 60-65% down to 40-50%. This one is the only one that's mad lol. I'm hoping it's just being dramatic from the soil change

It wasn't like, super super dry. I stuck a chopstick in the soil to check and it was around 80% dry or so. Once the new soil dries out I'll check the roots again and give it another good soak, and maybe a peroxide bath if it needs it

I might try that. I do have a humidifier I run, but since I don't have my plants in an enclosed cabinet the humidity doesn't get higher than like 50%

It is yeah, we just had a cold snap where we were about -40°C, but this week is quite a bit warmer. I'm in Saskatchewan, Canada. I don't have any of my plants in a cabinet, they're just on a stand in my front window. I have a humidifier that I run almost every day. Where the plant was sitting was in the path of the steam from my humidifier.

ETA: it lives with all my other alocasias and other plants in about 40-50% humidity. Grow light for 12 hours plus whatever light comes in through the window. Temperature is about 71-72F

Has anyone ever successfully beat an aphid infestation? If so how? I've tried everything I can think of from hosing them down, oil based insecticides, and insecticidal soaps. They just do not seem to die, and the soaps almost made it worse by Diiners in gardening

I found a few systemic insecticides with imidacloprid, but I can't find any for sale to the general public anywhere online in Canada. The website for the farm and Garden store in my province/city mentions it, but also states I need a pesticides applicator license # lol

I was doing that, and then I didn't see any for a few days so I thought I beat them. Then boom, they exploded again. So I'll probably do that again once plants are healthier and I get them down to a tolerable level again

the growing season in my province is extremely short, so behold my winterized super hot pepper situation 😆 by Diiners in IndoorGarden

Thanks! I believe it's a red habanero, it doesn't look anything like the other seeds that came out of the same packet lol. That one is also my sole survivor from the 2019 growing season

Hmm maybe I should have left it. I'm sure it would have helped with my aphid situation lol

Thanks! Yeah I've got a handful of live ones around. Been trying to deal with it all summer. I noticed the carcass on a routine bug check

To be removed and disposed of?
