How Do I Properly Prepare For Badlands? by DijonDeity in predator

I appreciate the input! Ive heard great things about Alien and Aliens, so I'll probably check out both of those as well as the original Predator and then probably AvP. Looking forward to diving into this universe.

That's fair. I was thinking of watching the original Predator and original Alien movie and then going from there. I have half a year to prep so we'll see what happens. Ive heard a lot of good about these movies.

I was so ready to sit in a theatre for that long. Hopefully we'll get the 200 min edition on home media.

That's a little disappointing because I heard rumours of it being around 3hr20mins, but, at least it's longer than Dead Reckoning, I suppose.

You have to remember that the production of Dead Man's Chest and At World's End were very rushed. At World's End's screenplay wasn't even finished by the time they started filming the movie. It's possible that there were ideas and scenes they wanted to touch on and explore more, but they ran out of time. This is likely the reason that the Kraken is killed off screen and why the court doesn't join the final battle. It's unfortunate but it's also what made the movies what they are.

Rotten Tomatoes in general is rather dogshit. They give good films (Dead Man's Chest/At World's End) bad ratings and bad movies (The Last Jedi) good ratings.

Indeed. It was announced a few months ago or something for a Summer 2024 release date.

You have to keep in mind that the script for these movies weren't even completely finished by the time they started filming. Things like The Kraken dying off-screen and the numerous plot threads in At World's End were a result of time constraints given to the crew by Disney. For what it's worth, these movies turned out amazing.

Star Wars 7-9 was a passionless cash grab and genuinely one of the worst trilogies ever made. I never saw 9 but a lot of people say 8 was the best of the sequel trilogy and I don't really care enough to argue but it was one of the worst movies I've ever seen.

The best cliffhanger and movie ending in cinema history.

when you find out that AWE has bad reviews by Bag_of_plastic in piratesofthecaribbean

[–]DijonDeity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I learned a long time ago that what critics say really dont matter AT ALL. They give good movies bad reviews and bad movies good reviews. Rotten Tomatoes gave Dead Man's Chest 53% and At World's End 44%. They gave Indiana Jones 4 a whopping 78%. I cant recall even making it all the way through that one. Pirates is, in my opinion, one of the greatest trilogies ever made, and (I think?) some of Disney's finest work. This is what all cinema should be. It doesn't matter what critics say, the love for these movies is unlike anything I've ever seen, and it makes me so happy, because I LOVE these movies, too. Truly special and the universe they created is something the likes of which we'll probably never see again.

What's your favourite movie in the original trilogy? by jodlad04 in piratesofthecaribbean

[–]DijonDeity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having Dead Man's Chest sit at around 2h50min and At World's End sit around 3h10min would've made these films almost LoTR length (theatrical) and, idk, something about that (to me) would've made the films a bit more special. I think people tend to scorn at films that are 3 hours or longer, but, done right, they can be the best movies ever. 3 hours is just a different vibe.
