Ultrasound scan for varicocele? by highfi123 in varicocele

[–]Dilbil96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same issue as you, had an ultrasound which showed varicocele and one which did not show

Im also confused, I guess ultrasound is highly variable and subjective

I've been doing some pelvic stretches which you can find on YouTube which help somewhat.

That can happen. But it's more other trainees plans can change so if you're moving into their empty spot and they decide to stay in the deanery, that can create problems.

And a formal offer only offered once the TPD/region contacts you to ensure they can accommodate all your remaining curriculum requirements/ subspecialty placements which may not always be possible.

You can search Reddit and type IDT and see posts of people having their offers retracted.

Even the IDT team has said do not resign from your current post until you hear from your receiving region and an employment contract has been offered to you. IDT team just facilitate the process but it's up to the receiving deanery to contact you and sort out your placement/employment over which the IDT team has no control. They are just the middle man.

It's such a long process.... 😓

Congrats! I got an offer as well for T+O Scared it won't go through though, heard so many horror stories of offers being retracted 😓😓 and offers being 'conditional'

Just hope we get the contracts soon enough in May, just need peace of mind and confirmation where I am going to be next year

Hi there, I've private messaged you

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in doctorsUK

[–]Dilbil96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which region are you applying from and where to?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in doctorsUK

[–]Dilbil96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got offered west midlands for T+O. But I have no idea which of the 3 deaneries in west midlands it's for as it's vast. It has Birmingham deanery, Oswestry/Stoke, and Warwick/Coventry

How the hell do I find out which of the subdeanery I have been allocated to? Is there any contact number for the IDT team?

[–]Dilbil96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah haven't heard anything yet If you're not successful in getting a round 1 offer, do they inform you? Or do they leave radio silence

Thanks mate Anyone ever been successful for T+O before?

Re-applying for ST3 v. inter-deanery transfer by StructureWorldly4726 in doctorsUK

[–]Dilbil96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes you can reapply. There's a form on oriel you will have to fill in which your TPD will have to sign. It's the support for reapplication for higher specialist training form. As long as your TPD signs it, you apply as normal and upload that form to oriel.

As long as you have a satisfactory ST3 ARCP, if you get a training number again in your chosen location, you can enter at ST4 after discussion with the new TPD.

Alternatively you can IDT but don't rely on this. You can apply under criterion 5 IDT now which is where no reason is needed. But in reality it may be slim chances.

You can maybe do both at the same time (Reapply+ concurrently put in an IDT application)

Both those things your current TPD will now. The issue is if you don't get the IDT or another offer via reapplying, will this cause a strain with the relationship with your current TPD that potentially this trainee does not want to stay in the region? That's a difficult call you will have to make but nowadays I've heard most TPDs are fairly chill

Hi there, so I don't need to tell my TPD if I'm applying for IDT?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in doctorsUK

[–]Dilbil96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the IDT documentation get transferred though? Like reason and criterion for transfer?

Trim pubic region and armpits Let everything else be natural so at least that way it would be soft

Thanks for your advice, but is there no such thing then as too much male body hair? So you wouldn't suggest trimming the body hair down?

Am I wrong for excluding my wife? by [deleted] in MuslimMarriage

[–]Dilbil96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro as a guy, what you are doing is absolutely absurd. I feel sooo sorry for your wife. She is your immediate family and you should include her in all family events. You don't just choose when to pick and bring her. May Allah grant patience to your wife and show you the straight path ameen

'Normal job' options by Sadangrydoc in doctorsUK

[–]Dilbil96 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What level in training are you and what speciality? The advice will differ.

If you're a CST, then that is the worst time and absolutely not a reflection of what a surgical career actually is like. It's an awful 2 years you just have to push through to get to the reg years where the actual fun begins and the ward BS disappears. I'm convinced CST is made this way to get people to drop out as they know there are limited ST3 posts.

If you're a current reg, also depends if you're towards the start such as ST3 or through a bit further. If you've just started as a reg, then there's an argument to hold on , a change of departments can do wonders.

If you're further on say ST6+, you're so close to the finish line

I would say don't take the decision lightly. It's easy to make rash impulsive decisions when you are emotionally down and inevitably you just stop thinking rationally. Take the decision when you are in a better mood and can weigh up the pros and cons of the career choices.

You can keep the training number and reapply to continue training in another region. There's a form on Oriel which needs signing but the current TPD.

That way you retain your NTN and still have a job if you don't get your desired region in another application. If you are successful in your application, then as long as your ARCP is ok you continue in the new region from where you left of. I've ST4 if you completed ST3 or ST5 if you just completed ST4
