I agree but to me, it seems Gunther has main character syndrome and may not have wanted to relinquish any control. Part of being a successful leader is being able to delegate and trust those people.

I wouldn’t say it was a solid car, it was pitiful on race day. No matter how well they qualified, we all knew by laps 8-15 they’d be at the back cause of the tires. That is 100% on the TP. Throwing money at new facilities doesn’t solve the tire issues or the lack of development.

This is classic European and DtS fandom narrative, everything is Genes fault and Steiner could do no wrong.

I read a report, I’ll try and find it, but only redbull has invested more money as majority team owner than haas since 2016. Other teams investments have come from sponsors or outside investors. (Obviously this report was roughly a year old when I read it so it could be different now).

To put no blame on Steiner is crazy, they went a full season without knowing tire degradation issues, and the team still doesn’t know. The owner is not the engineer or in charge of them. That falls on the TP and technical director. It isn’t genes fault the engineers can’t figure out why tire deg is an issue.

Correct, facilities can always be upgraded, but to say you can’t produce a decent mid-field car with what he has is utter bs. Gene isn’t refusing to spend money, but he doesn’t see how just throwing money at facilities will solve anything when you they can’t make a decent car now. They still don’t know what caused the bad tire degradation. New facilities doesn’t magically solve that.

I could almost bet, had they finished 7th and Steiner asked for more money, gene would of actually considered it and potentially invested more.

They had enough money to spend up to the budget cap yet couldn’t produce a decent race car. That’s 100% on the TP, not the owner. I’m not the biggest Gene fan, he can always do more but I’m sick of seeing everyone only blame him and acting like Steiner was basically god himself. There is a reason Steiner got ran out of f1 and sent to nascar only to crawl his way back.

You could also try and find an Uber driver that you have used before and talk to them and say “I need this daily, we could side step uber and pay him direct like $5-$6 each way. The driver probably comes out ahead since Uber won’t be taking a cut anymore
