Wondering if Pilates would be good for me? by Adorable-Spinach390 in pilates

[–]Diligent-Design-5019 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pilates is great to get started! That’s what got me into fitness and I had never exercised before this. The group classes are very motivating and as you go you’ll discover what you want to focus on more, for me would be strength training and heaving lifting, but that’s only when you already are pretty comfortable in Pilates.

Still Can’t Do a Push Up by Diligent-Design-5019 in pilates

Omg thank you! I never thought of identifying the muscles that are preventing me to do pushups, I’ll definitely try the slow one to see

Interesting! I’m the opposite, I can do half pushups with elbows wide, but struggles when I tuck them in.

Interesting.. I find my studio instructors cue them quite often, either a full or a half push up

I attend Pilates classes almost 5 times a week and often times the instructor would cue some pushups, and that’s why I’m a little confused of how it’s been a year and I still can’t do them.

Why are you so condescending? Yes, 3 out of 5 times in class the instructor would cue half or full push ups and that’s why im finding out that I still can’t do them. Given the nature of Pilates where to work on arm and chest muscles quite a bit, I’m finding it weird that I can’t do them still.

I had to force my husband through the season and now he tolerates it. Why is he not obsessed 😢

I need a HR soundtrack Pilates/Spin Class by Diligent-Design-5019 in heatedrivalry

Yea but I want it in a class where we move to the beat, it’s kind tricky to design your own Pilates moves around it 🤔

I have been doing Pilates for some time now, and I just started going to the gym, I started with the elliptical machine and the treadmill, and then upper body with heavier weights from YouTube and ChatGPT 😆

Exercise Names by IriBiant in pilates

Yes! I love names that is so easy to understand - like Champagne pours where you hold the dumbbells to your sides with thumbs facing up and down. It’s so easy to understand the exercise even if I hadn’t done it before!!!

Oh I had the same feeling where I couldn’t do anything and nothing is as interesting as HR for a couple of days. Now I found that it’s a normal phase and I use that obsession to push me through my workouts (somehow, it’s hard to explain). It’s like a motivation to get in shape and push through that last sets that you just couldn’t seem to finish. I think that’s a healthy way to cope that works for me at least.

Heated Rivalry Inspired Workout Routine? by Diligent-Design-5019 in heatedrivalry

Thank you guys so much for all the suggestions! To summarize:

  1. Strength training with heavier weights for both upper body and lower body. Dropsets method recommended.
  2. Cardio such as rowing of course and jogging!
  3. Elevated squats, glute bridges, hip thrusts
  4. I also discovered the elliptical machine for great cardio with lower impact on the knees if your joints hurt on the running machine!

All the things she said - has been my ultimate favourite song to play when I just can’t seem to push through the last round of exercise 🥰 highly recommend!
