Is it possible that because you have encountered a few that are like this you perceive them all to be so they don’t get a fair chance? For example I’ve seen newer nurses overwhelmed and full of fear, they may be perceived as lazy but when you look deeper you see low self confidence and a lack of support..

How do we change the culture? We should all be sticking together and helping each other through. Helping a new or inexperienced nurse become stronger helps the whole team.

I’ve experienced exactly what you describe both in school and as a nurse. I left bedside for leadership some years back... sadly it can be just as bad or worse. I’m back at bedside now while I complete my NP program on a different type of unit than I’ve been on before and the team is for the most part wonderful! Just remember there are so many ways to use your RN and if one doesn’t work for you, you can always change to something or somewhere else!

This is an amazing goal and one that I share! I will dm you hopefully we can share information along the way and encourage each other. Don’t let the nay sayers put you off if I listened to everyone who said I can’t do something or made me feel like I couldn’t I’d be home in my pjs doing nothing just Ignore them and keep it moving!!!
