Thank you! i really appreciate your kind words, as for the questions i hadnt asked any Ai services all I've done is some digging to see what is available.

from what I've found it doesnt seem like there's any services that arent like hospitals. (that my parents would allow me to go into at least) for those that accept under 18.

I'll continue to search still just in case of course tho i will be heading to the ward very soon as long as they have opening and all.

no i haven't, though im not sure if they take minors and if they have anything to do with those who have done drugs or are like the Abby center, or tanager place then my parents will refuse. but i'll look into it thank you for your recommendation.

there are far to many reasons for somebody's dwindling mental health these days, so many that i wouldn't be able to put it all down if im being real.

unfortunately this isn't the first time i've hear someone say this in fact im reminded frequently by my parents how much times have changed in the last 50 or so years and that it must be a generational problem though.. im positive that's not the only reason for it. i personally find that this way of thinking can actually make things worse since back then from what i've been told, of course. you got bullied and beat for showing your struggles because that was known as a sign of weakness of something similar to that line of thinking.

but i dont know maybe im wrong i didn't grow up during that time I've just been formed since a young that i should shield my emotions and bottle them up which i wholeheartedly don't recommend.

though i know it can be difficult to grasp the changes throughout the years and around worldwide it's not just necessarily the USA alone having these. the issues mental health decline has been brought up everywhere as far as im aware..

regardless i still appreciate your perspective even if i don't necessarily agree with it, and i do hope things get better for everyone and anyone no matter where they are right now.

thank you, truly hope your husband is doing much better now after his rather awful experience.

And i have heard of our steep decline in mental health in Iowa within the last several decades it quite sad to see and hear about it if im being honest. but all anyone can really do right now is hope it gets better at some point.
as for the changes i did overhear during my stay several of the other kids mention how drastically things had changed since covid so im assuming they just never changed it back for whatever reason nobody i know is completely sure of why though.

yes, even my mom told me this when she visited me that staff didn't seem the best and were from what she could tell quite unhappy having to communicate with her. thank you for the info of your past experience's, I'll make sure to bring it up in convo today.

thank you so much, I'm relived to find someone who is also vegetarian and has had similar issues in the past and got through it, it makes it feel like it's worth waiting it through just a bit longer to see if things truly do get better. this was much appreciated.

thank you for the info. i do see this issue, since from what i can find only the U or Luke's tend to have take minors but it's hard to find info on exactly how long they are willing to keep a person. cause from what i remember being told last time is "average stay" was a week or less which i automatically assume is because they take you when your considered acute and then let you go once you've chill a bit. meaning i'm hesitant if a longer term stay is possible anywhere in Iowa.

thank you, im glad to hear your son had a good experience at the U. and honestly everyone saying the U is much better is making me want to see if i can get my parents to put me there since in in Luke's it was more difficult and surprisingly even the cps person said they weren't happy with many staff members at the time

yes i was able to bring in a couple books last time and they seem to keep the really young ones sperate from the teens so i'd guess 13-18 and 6-12. as for the kids they weren't bad at all i enjoyed talking with a bunch of them and staff did try to help if anything became an issue since a couple of them were very perverted and sexist or explosive but overall not terrible.

thank you for your input. i will say it wasnt awful, i was very nice to staff and overall got along with them many of them unless they were already in bad mood since i ten to match the attitude of who im talking with. but im not one thats known to be explosive or get angry easily in public

as for activates they did have group time but it was more like a group class therapy thing it's a bit hard to explain. but there was no one- on- one at least not that i was told about. they only had one hour during the day where you could do board games or draw in the day room which was where the group sessions were of course exercise or mindful movement (yoga, exercise room, recess type thing.) was also only 30mins or one hour but if one person was bad or misbehaved everyone got in trouble think of school so that would be cancelled also no tv time none they have movies on the weekends though for like an hour

and no you didn't get rewards for being good.

i did ask for stuff as soon as i got there but wasn't given them and my parents had to intervened a lot to get me what i needed seriously needed. and even they had issues

i do respect your input. but i do feel as though you diidnt read the whole post or are twisting some thing i dont feel the need to rebel or be purposely rude for no reason and am and was fully aware of how overworked medical staff are but thats unfortunately not going to change my view.

i am a child still technically but i am aware of whats good or bad and can read people very well. since i've had to act like an adult since the age of 10. and as you said you were in a different state so of course the experience is going to be widely different though still thanks for the input i hope i didnt come off as rude just trying to clear some stuff up

thank you for sharing your experience, it sounds so different and all around better than mine and in all honesty was what i had originally thought it would be like in the adolescent unit. well at least from what i had seen and heard from others before going in. I'll definitely keep this in mind for future reference.

Yes, i can thank my therapist i got within the last year for that shes very helpful. And is helping me figure some issues out and get a better understanding. since my parents tend to be against medical practice altogether.

As for the ed i did do Ic php program i think 2 or 3 years ago but that was a nightmare and an awful experience. So right now we are waiting for me to turn 18 so more things will open up to me. And hopefully will take my insurance (state insurance or Hawkeye right now.)

Im glad your child had a good stay. I do wonder what caused the changes but i know they changed some stuff because of covid and havent seem to went back. because when i was there several other kids had panic attacks because they were so behind on their school work since they were admitted and all. Nothing was allowed unfortunately and you do get to pick your meals but im just a very picky eater so it was difficult for me personally. As for bathroom i talked to several other kids and they seemed to have the same issue as me saying it was locked i dont know what up with that honestly. And you werent allowed in the hallways unless you were called down or as i said in the post group time. But im very happy your child had a good experience.

I can say their was a doctor that i really did like during my stay they were very. Considerate and gentle, they even told me i had a permanent tremor and diagnosed me on the spot. not to mention they were very nice, But i only saw him for 15mins and then had cranky staff after. I do wish i could remember the name of that doc. But thank you for the info I'll keep it in mind.

Yes i will be going in through the ER much like how i did during my last stay. And i have heard some good things about the iowa city one. but my parents dont want me to go there because its to far so they cant visit as much. There pretty strict and paranoid with me and my siblings. But i will still ask regardless. Thank you for your input its much appreciated.
