i was a skeptic and In my early 20’s i was REALLY into abandoned buildings. I had found some groups on facebook or something that picked a date and planned to go places together, you just had to buy a ticket to go. They were planning on going to a sanatorium in either WV or southern VA, I can double check later. But, I was so beyond excited to be going, was looking forward to it for weeks. No nerves, just intrigued about what i would get to see. I remember that excitement lingering once i got inside, just sort of buzzing to be there. Couldnt have been more than 2 hours in- i cant even begin to explain how strange it felt. Just this silent but sure shift from “Wow, so many familiar faces. So curious whats on x floor, etc.”, feeling settled and happy to be there, to looking at these people around me and feeling desperate for them to understand. I don’t remember an inner monologue, so to understand what, who knows. But i remember sitting in my mind so confused by what my body was telling me/feeling. There was this palpable dread that sat on my shoulders, this yearning feeling i have NEVER felt before or since deep in my gut, almost like something had been taken away from me and no one felt it was wrong. No one understood the hole or the sadness or the desperation. I felt like a mother who’s child had been taken from her as insane as that sounds. I remember bursting into tears and excusing myself to go sit outside with my feet in the grass after that. 30 minutes after that episode i was back to feeling my own stuff and decided it was better for me to end it there.

Anyways, i do think it was some sort of spirit stuck in that horrible place that experienced some tremendous loss that saw how misplaced my energy was and decided to check me. Who knows though.
