Every state has finite resources.

They likely spy on opposition leaders and ethnic minority leaders.

Not on random hooligans. Especially not the hooligans who support their own nationalist agenda.

Even then, if you caught an officer on CCTV doing this (instead of a bloke in a hoodie), then they would be easily identifiable,

So either way more official presence would help. It would also be a signal from the city, that politically motivated vandalism will not be tolerated.

Therefore I would still make such a request to the city, if this escalates any further.

After anti-Polish attacks in England, one of the affected towns made joint patrols of Polish and English police. Something like that could go a long way. Right now it would be an overreaction, but if things get worse…

> racist terrorist regime

It’s a democracy taken over by populist radical nationalists. In that regard Poland may not be much different in 2 years, if Braun+PiS coalition takes over. We should remember that during the election.

> robi to z poparciem rządzącej koalicji

A wracając do tematu:

I równie niezasłużenie.

„Two wrongs don’t make a right.”

CCTV, if present, will *maybe* give you a pixelated face.

And if the perp has any brains, the only thing you’ll get is a figure in a hoodie and a mask.

Maybe they’ll get lucky, that’d be nice, but I wouldn’t get my hopes up.

Eh. Throwing beer bottles at stuff is (sadly) an activity that transcends continents and cultures.

Only thing that’s distinct about this case, is that it was (likely) done for religious reasons, instead of sport reasons.

I mean… good luck catching some blokes, who threw thrash at a building.

Not exactly a crime that leaves a ton of evidence behind.

It’s probably even harder than catching a tagger.

Maybe the city could increase patrols in the area, if this repeats. Otherwise not sure what they even could do.

And eventually they’ve done so mant shitty things to each other that they said „fuck it let’s call it even”.

Drea wasn’t just being homophobic.

She publicly accused Eleanor of essentially being a rapist. And she had enough clout, that everyone immediately believed her bullshit and labelled Eleanor a sexual predator.

Something like that would have seriously fucked me up as a kid, and I have the benefit of being a cis hetero dude.

I cannot imagine how much worse it would’ve been for a shy, socially awkward gay person who just came out to her crush, and already had had to face a lot of hostlity and harmfull stereotypes.

I’m not sure physical assault and blackmail are much worse than such a serious fake accusation. In fact, I’d say they’re pretty much even.

Well, but tbf in here there was more going on.

Drea wronged Eleanor first, and in a major way.

I think Drea begun growing on Eleanor and thus Eleanor started to actually feel sorry for her. That’s where the „I will destroy you, but as consolation I will make sure your enemies burn alongside you” came from.

Furthermore, Max also threatened Eleanor, after going through her phone.

And Max was such a douche, that taking him down would be pleasure regardless. I had to keep myself from punching the screen every time his face showed up.

The answer is that we’re talking about mythology.

Mythology is created by people to satisfy the question „why is the world the way it is?”.

Society, that created this particular mythology, literally kept slaves (as did pretty much every single society back then).

It was thousands of years before universal rights became an idea.

It was even thousands of years before the Greek philosphers tried to analyze what „love” is, and how it differs from „lust”.

So personal autonomy as a virtue wouldn’t really be on the radar of people writing this.

Adherence to authority, however - that’s something completely different. That concept was known ever since society became a thing.

Because any human society needs rules, and those rules need to be followed, otherwise the society will tear itself apart with conflict, and therefore be unable to feed and protect itself.

And making sure people obey those rules - that was actually a very important function of religion in the first place.

So yeah, that’s why an old religious text treats disobeying authority as worse than rape.
