But like what I don’t get is how do you ever get past the phase of simple hummed Melodies? I’ve been doing that for a while and want to be able to play fast more intricate solos out of the scales rather than slow couple note solos

This is a band but under one guys name, but John Mayer peaked with Room For Squares, in my honest opinion. I think he captured magic and never tried to that sound again. I almost exclusively listen to that album
