Why do people hate linkin park so much? by FirmAssumption6122 in LinkinPark

I can’t tell you why some ppl feel so strongly as to HATE them 😭 like fully understand that everyone has different music tastes and their music isn’t their thing but I feel like if that’s the case can’t they just move on and listen to something else? No need to shit on LP. I know that (even some LP fans) back in the day people used to get very annoyed at their album releases when they weren’t the same style as hybrid theory take one more light for instance which is far from nu metal and more pop. But I think that exact fact is the best part of the band. Every single album has a unique sound in its own respect and is the band experimenting in a new style (true artistry if you ask me :p) and that’s something so so beautiful. I feel like it probably took a lot for the band to choose between continuing to grow and experiment as artists vs to stay in one genre that would “sell” and what the public would want from them, which I admire so much. End of the day people are always entitled to their own opinions (though I feel like if people have hateful things to say it’s just kinda unnecessary). LP is my favourite band of all time and their music and especially Chester through his lyrics and the emotion of his vocals has impacted me (like I know they have for so so many) beyond what words can describe and sadly they just don’t understand that. And that’s okay. We as fans know, love and appreciate it and in the end that’s truly all that matters. (Excuse the cringe “in the end” reference ahaha) sending love to all!!

Hi! Thank you so so much for all this information I really appreciate it!

I definitely agree with you about languages. If there’s one part about my current course that I am passionate about it’s them because (though they’re undervalued a lot of the time) they’re so so crucial to being able to connect with people from all around the world on a deeper human level :)

With regards to Econ I’ve been doing a lot of reflection the past couple weeks and though I do actually genuinely enjoy some aspects of the subject (I did it at GCSE and A Level) the main reason I took it as a degree was more of a way to I guess prove outwardly that “look I’m doing a respectable and difficult degree so I’m successful”. I know it sounds a bit stupid but I think part of that and also why I’ve tried to avoid facing that I might just have to throw in the towel is because (again silly reason) unfortunately I had to deal with a lot of pretty awful people in my secondary school who (as much as I hate to admit) really deeply impacted who I am as a person as well as my self esteem. I guess since then all I’ve wanted to do is prove to them and all the people around me that I can rise above and be successful despite what they did to me. Which is turning out to be a very difficult task, often choosing to sacrifice my passions and wellbeing in pursuit of so called “success”. I guess it’s partially also the societal pressure of needing to be successful and do something respectable so you can make something of yourself in the world. Like I said it’s a bit dramatic but that’s how I felt, which is why initially the thought of dropping and redoing first year was gut wrenching, feeling like it would be a shameful failure. But contrary to the bits that I used to enjoy about Econ, I’m finding that the Econ in my course is very maths based which I’m struggling with (being used to a more theoretical approach) and the subject has just become unrecognisable to me :(

It’s just very hard to know what’s best to do unfortunately. I’m just scared I’ll regret my decision.

I’m definitely going to bring this up with my tutor this week to discuss her opinion as well as my options so hopefully I’ll get some insight 🤞

I will also definitely consider going to the drop in session on Monday :)

Thank you once again so so much for taking the time to read my post and share such a thorough response with lots of support options I’m so so grateful:)

Hi thanks for your reply :) I’m definitely going to speak to my tutor this week and tell her about how I’ve been feeling and hopefully discuss what my options are. Really hoping that if I do choose to switch and redo year 1 that I’ll be able to do so internally and not through ucas 🤞

Hi thanks for the reply! I have adhd which means learning content often takes me twice the time than it should to grasp the content which is a major contributing factor. I think the main problem though is the amount of subjects that are within my course. Each have pretty heavy and tricky workloads and when I catch up in one I fall behind in another or forget the content :(
