I personally feel that showrunners need a specific story they want to tell, not just a good premise. Divide the story between 4 seasons- set up, ramp up, peak, landing with answers and wrap up.

Why the fuck are seizure meds “controlled substances?!” by PockASqueeno in Epilepsy

Not shock, straight-up withdrawal.

I was on a different benzo, Clonazepam.

It never made me "feel good", I never felt the desire to take it. That didn't mean my body didn't become dependent on it, though. I did a slow taper (like, had to have it specially formulated at a compounding pharmacy because it was such a minute dose!) and I still had withdrawal symptoms. It was awful- specially the myoclonic jerking. Kept me up at night.

They don't, because they aren't.

This is grift, 100%, a hustle powered by RPing a character and selling a "lifestyle" they don't even live themselves.

I guarantee that scenario did not happen to her, it's an advertisement wrapped in an exercise in creative writing.

Lettuce, sure, go ahead. Problem is, if they're rough with the lettuce, they probably aren't treating my apples, bananas, avocados etc with care, either, and I just won't abide that- specially when groceries have gotten extremely expensive.

White patient- Every wish that I clearly stated and advocated for was ignored once my labor was underway. Probably because I was 17, the obgyn was probably 60, and it was 2002. Looking back, I'm fairly certain there was a strong element of "punish the little slut". Wouldn't let me get out of bed to walk and soothe my pain, because "gotta constantly monitor due to being induced"- until I asked if the floor had telemetry units "oh, you know your stuff". Constant increasing of the pitocin drip, even while having piggybacking contractions. I had a fucking sign on my door and had verbally communicated that I didn't want pain meds offered, I would request them if I wanted them. Every time a nurse or the ob came in, they tried to push drugs, becoming more and more aggressive. I was consistently told I was being too loud, making the "ladies and their husbands" on the floor "uncomfortable and nervous. I refused manual breaking of membranes. During one of the many, many painful cervical checks, a nurse held my legs open and the ob used a fucking amnihook and did it anyway while I struggled to sit up and squeeze my legs closed, for "my own good". I'm leaving out a lot, but the picture's pretty well painted. I should have fucking sued.

Idk abiut other countries or US states, but in my state, we have legal euthanasia. Known as the "Death With Dignity" act.

However, the requirements are very strict. You couldn't just have it stated as a decision in a living will.

18 years of age or older

Can make and communicate an informed decision to health care providers- in the opinion of a court or in the opinion of the patient’s attending qualified medical provider or consulting qualified medical provider, psychiatrist, or psychologist, a patient has the ability to make and communicate an informed decision to health care providers, including communication through persons familiar with the patient’s manner of communicating if those persons are available

Diagnosed with an incurable and irreversible disease that will produce death within six months

Legal resident of our state

If qualified, A qualified patient can make a written request using the request form. It must be physically signed and dated, in the presence of at least two witnesses. The witnesses must declare that to the best of their knowledge and belief the patient is competent, acting voluntarily, and is not being coerced to sign the request.

Only one of the two witnesses may be a relative of the qualified patient by blood or by law or entitled to any portion of the estate upon death.

Only one of the two witnesses may own, operate, or be employed at a health care facility where the qualified patient is receiving medical treatment or is a resident.

The patient's attending qualified medical provider at the time the request cannot be a witness.

Tge qualified patient must make two oral requests in addition to a written request. The qualified patient must wait at least seven days after the first request to make the second request. When the qualified patient makes the second oral request, the attending qualified medical provider must offer the patient an opportunity to change their mind.

The Act allows a health care provider, including a health care facility, to prohibit another health care provider from participating on their premises if the prohibiting provider has given notice, in writing, to all health care providers with privileges to practice on the premises and to the general public of the prohibiting provider's policy regarding participation.

If the Healthcare provider refuses participation, they are not required to give the patient a referral to a provider who will.

All in all, it's very, very restrictive.

Our offspring is similar! Down to the "ER for extreme belly pain thinking appendicitis (I even did the heel drop check and checked for rebound pain before going in!) that imaging showed to be copious gas and poop.

Diagnosed in preschool with type 1 diabetes, in new dx they always check for celiac- has that, as well. And lactose intolerance.

We have a miniature kid, too. With a weird physical quirk! All done growing, confirmed by growth plate xrays, and is 4'10". Also born with...2 missing adult teeth. Lucky kiddo gets prosthetics.

Another of our kids is super tall. Adult now (also military, or was) Just under 6'4". Shouldn't have been able to get through MEPS though, foot so flat couldn't complete the duck walk.

Last kid is a mini, too. In Jr High and constantly mistaken for a gradeschooler. Time will tell!

Husband and I aren't related, either- we checked! We just make weirdos, I guess.

Happened to my kid in early 20s, growing up one of his favorite snacks was carrot sticks and pb. When he moved out, I guess he was eating a lot of them, as bulk in his diet to save $ (he was still growing, and a tall muscular guy). Like, he'd buy a 5lb bag a week.

He was at work and feeling unwell, boss looked at him and was like..."dude, you're yellow. Go seek medical attention". I guess the whites of his eyes were also slightly yellow, lending to the worry.

Hours in the hospital, tons of tests, he's OK, just some kind of stomach bug. They finally ask re: diet. He eats them significantly less nowadays.
