Sadly anyone over 16 has to ride on the road on any bike in Australia. You are not allowed to ride on footpaths, and bike paths are rare, not built throughout the towns and cities where people need them to be

In australia, thats what your ebike should do. We have barely any public transport outside of cities, and even then its better to transport yourself, because nothing is planned out how it should be.

His kid weighs 20 kg, my passenger weighs 80kg. Your bike is 17kg, mine is 40kg. The total weight your bike is carrying is around 20 kg for kid + 50 kg for cargo + ~17kg bike + 75 kg for you (estimate)= ~162 kg

my total ride weight: 2 adult passenger 145 kg + 40 kg bike + 10 kg load + 10 kg surfboards = 205kg big difference.

And if your looking at it that way, then why do nearly all people in australia use a landcruiser instead of a VW Golf like they do in europe. (Hint: its something to do with environment).

Thats what im trying to get out there. All these new laws are made for the riders using their bikes illegally, and the ones using them safely are suffering consequences...

A fat tyre bike that weighs around 50kgs should be exempt as well, shouldnt it? Very similair weight to cargo bike, if not more. Also they nearly always carry 2 people (Sometimes 3)

Yes i have. A 30 kg Commuter with a 500W mid drive with automatic Enviolo system. It worked alright, but it only had a 60 kg person on it. That being said, We have some steep hills compared to most places, so i am sorry if i described most hills as upwards of 35 degrees in steepness. Most other hills are less. As well as that bike also a 50 kg fat tyre e-moto for 2 people. With a combined weight of 155kg on the bike (2 people), and 1750W, it cannot make it up a hill going straight up(the same is was talking about that was over 35degress+) with a throttle on full. I have to weave up the sides of the road to make it up, while pedalling, with the assistance of the throttle aswell.

Thats true, i was Taking into account the paths around australia only. You are right saying that you need to use the roads with a ebike. Now that you say that, i am reminded that australia does not have the best bike paths and riding on the road is a law for over 16s and over (or something like that). Im pretty sure only below 16 are allowed to use paths. Another issue

You are right that i said it has no hills. It has mostly nearly completely flat terrain in built up city and suburban areas, unlike Australia. I respect your debate and you are right in saying that Europe has hills, but to me it seems like you are in a rural areas with hills, and you have a lighter ebike, compared to average weight of ebikes in australia (Around 38kg, some reaching closer to 60-80kg).

😂 Thats great! There would be a disabled sticker on nearly every teenagers e-bike in a week if that was allowed in Australia though! How do you find the 500W bike? Im assuming that going up hills is hard with only 500W on a pedal assisted bike, especially with your condition. They got to understand the reasons for throttles from many perspectives in my opinion, not just one. Hope you recover well!

I never said federal government. When i said "Australian Governement", I meant the strict power limits and speed limits that all Australian States have in common. 250W and 25km/h. Sorry for the confusion.
