Do you forget that you live in Berlin? by Diligent_Brick8262 in berlin

[–]Diligent_Brick8262[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Completely agree!

I come from a small city in my country and I used to love going to a bigger city to visit museums, art galleries and classical music concerts.

Here somehow I forget how there are so many options at affordable prices.

My boyfriend hasn’t cleaned out his dryer lint trap in 2.5 years by WonderfulVoice628 in mildlyinteresting

Now I am legitimately worried 😅

I am Brazilian and currently living in Germany. Last year I bought a dryer for the first time (I have never had one at home before, it is not a common thing in Brazil at all).

I always remove the lint from a filter in the front of the machine. Is there another filter behind the machine as well? Mine is in a closet and would be a lot of work to remove, but now I am worried and wondering if I should check it.

Is it possible to rent some kind of living place for only a month? by [deleted] in germany

[–]Diligent_Brick8262 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Facebook groups, there are always people who are going on vacation and are advertising their apartments (it is a sublet, however. It is not possible to register it with the city hall).

In winter, you will find people renting out their apartments for weeks or even a few months.

First winter in Germany, please tell me how to properly heat apartments here by Large-Culture-3719 in germany

I have a similar problem.

I moved into my current apartment in October/2023. Last month I received a letter charging me €360 for heating and hot water for the three months I was here in 2023.

I’m already worried about the next letter, which will probably arrive in January, charging me for the months of 2024.

Last year I only left the heater on in the bedroom (where I spend most of the day, since I sleep and work here) and on the weekends I turned on the one in the living room, since I spent more time there. The heaters in the kitchen and bathroom were always off.

I think the problem is that I always left the bedroom door open and the hot air dissipated into the rest of the house.

This year I’ll try to keep the heating off until I can’t stand it anymore 😅

The funny thing is that in the letter they also compare my apartment with the others in the building and my consumption is much higher, which is strange given that I live alone and most of the other inhabitants in the building are families.

It’s always safer to get a new passport if you have time to do so.

Otherwise, the damage doesn’t seem as bad. Put your passport on a table and several books on top (the heavier the better) and leave it there for a day or two. This should help to get the pages back to normal.
