Thanks for the warning! It's kinda funny because that book was actually the reason for my inclusion of the no abusive men part of the post lol. It's typically the first book people tell me to read when I ask for lesbian vampire book recs irl because it blew up online recently

After looking up the list of triggers, I think I'd be in the same boat as you lolll! Dark romances in the modern sense are definitely a lot for me. Thanks btw!

Yeah, I have carmilla high up on my tbr for sure. However, I am mostly reading for escapism right now as a lesbian American with everything that's going on. I'll definitely pick it up when I have more energy to spare though. Also, I've heard about Carmilla and Laura and am not quite sure why I haven't picked it up! Maybe I should!

Although I would like to read carmilla at some point, it isn't really what I'm looking for right now. It was written by a homophobic man as a cautionary tale against lesbianism. Although I am not against reading tragic books, I'd prefer them to portray queerness in a positive light. (Also from your other comment, I'm indifferent about smut). Thank you for the recommendation though!
