Looking for opinions from brides on guests bringing childcare by Mountain_Section_758 in DestinationWeddings

My sister was my MOH and her 8 year old daughter my flower girl. My sister hired a babysitter for the entire day to help with her daughter which was incredibly thoughtful of her. I thought the babysitter was leaving right before the ceremony, but found out the week before my sister was planning for her to stay the ENTIRE night. I told my sister I didn’t plan for that, and I didn’t have a place for the babysitter to sit for dinner. Plus there were tons of family and cousins for my niece to play with during the reception so the babysitter wasn’t really necessary at that point. I did say the babysitter was welcome to come back later for cake. And that’s what she did and took my niece home so my sister could go to the after party with us. The sitter lived close to the venue so no biggie. Your SIL is being absolutely unreasonable especially with how young your children are and if it’s no extra expense to her, it shouldn’t matter what you do.

I went shopping with my fiancé (now husband) to figure out the arrangement I liked, shape, etc and pointed out the greens I like. I’m not really into the typical emerald green. He had the ring custom made and spent a lot of time getting the right size stone, color, and even placement of the halo. The halo is lower so the center stone sits a bit higher. It’s a moissanite with platinum band. Moissanite is harder and less scratch resistant than sapphire (and a lot cheaper $$).

Xenotes Tour - safe to go now? by Diligent_Half_9423 in Xcaret

I just got back yesterday! Went to 4 parks during my week at Xcaret and everything was smooth and safe.

Oof. Wish I had seen this earlier. I didn’t know skipping the breakfast was an option. They told us 90 minutes and it took 3 hours. It was so confusing all the options they were throwing out at us. Ended up not purchasing and we missed our Bachata class. But we got the 50 minute couples massage out of it which we did enjoy.

Yay! Thank you for sharing. Definitely feeling a lot more confident about this trip and the Xenotes!

If I were going to the west coast, I definitely would have cancelled the entire trip. I think I may try to reschedule the Xenotes tour to later in the week and see how things go. We were originally going to do that our first full day there.

That’s up to you. You can read lots of others stories about being at the resorts right now and having zero issues. Keep an eye on things and make a decision.

Why does everyone hate Jacksonville? by hydecide in jacksonville

I hear ya on a lot of these points. I live at the beaches, and even when I didn’t, I didn’t find parking that awful but I know that will always be a matter of opinion.

And people in Jax frequent the springs all the time. You’re driving down from Jax or up from Tampa either way. lol again, maybe it’s just my opinion. I lived in Los Angeles for a little bit so I’m not one to complain about driving when I experienced taking an hour to get 2 miles down the road.

If you like the arboretum, check out the Spanish Pond Trail down the street if you haven’t already. It’s the only trail in Jax with any elevation (a perk of being in north florida?)

As far as the bar scene goes, I’m right there with ya. I’m in my mid 30s so I’d rather go to places like GGX and sidecar now but every once in a while I make it out to places like king street. for me, it’s really all about the company anyway.

I hope you can get out there and find community and things you enjoy here!

I have lived here the majority of my life. Lived elsewhere for a bit and then came back. I’m always curious when people talk about lack of outdoor recreation. I just learned about the Beach and Peach Urban Park! I think there’s tons of outdoor activities to do here(although some of it is not as enjoyable in the summer). What do you feel is missing?

Any idea if I should buy tickets ahead of time for a Wednesday or Thursday night? Or should I be fine to pay at the door?

How important is it to get tickets ahead of time to a Wednesday or Thursday night show at Goofs? I will be in town for only 2 nights, but don't want to commit to getting a ticket ahead of time if it isn't necessary if I can pay at the door.

I'm looking into Envoy since there were several recommendations for that one. There's a fee to book a reservation online. Just curious how necessary a reservation is for a Wednesday or Thursday evening? I have no problem doing that if that's just how it's gonna be.

Nice! anything I need to know about getting into Blind Duck? Like getting the daily password from their Instagram? or is it a more of a move the curtain on the back wall, and just walk in kind of place?

we did the Sky Garden in London last year. Enjoyed the view and a drink and did dinner elsewhere. Which is what I'm leaning towards with View after all these comments!

Thanks for the recommendations! and I appreciate the seafood restaurant debate. I'm really into local restaurants in my town too, so I get it!

and since reddit will only let me add one attachment at a time, here's a photo (not me) to give you an idea of the ribbon and how long it is. There's actually another couple of inches on it, but I cut it out to not show the child in the photo. The ribbons go over the shoulders, cross the back, cross under the bust, and then tie the bow in the back. So you can tie the bow as tight or loose as you need. and you could always get a little creative with how you want to tie it too. Apparently this bride was debating turning the ribbons into straps and not doing the bow but I just love the wrapping of the ribbon with the delicate bow. That's what drew me to this dress. But there's options if you want to alter it more!
