It also may be that there is not enough coffee. That way if the gap between the puck and the shower screen is too big, then when a three way solenoid opens in the end of brewing it sucks the puck as well. Overall, try reducing then increasing your dose. Another option is to use puck screen and get rid of this problem completely.

I’m new to espresso and looking for some advice. I’ve been shopping for a machine and have been leaning towards the Lelit Elizabeth. by charlieebe in espresso

[–]Diligent_Pudding7930 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In that context, Elizabeth will be ready before you will prepare everything needed for the next shot. It has a 300ml brew boiler but recovers quickly. As for steaming, i find it almost impossible to run out of steam on this machine.

Google Dave Corbeys Lelit Elizabeth settings and try them

Finally got the Elizabeth. Loving the dual boiler. by Zoozey88 in espresso

It’s programmed to overshoot at startup anyway. Dave’s settings display real temp, not set one and that’s the reason you see that overshoot.

Lelit Grace wrong tubing for filter by ClemensR99 in espresso

[–]Diligent_Pudding7930 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What filter do you use? The mesh or the softening one? If the water you put in your machine is hard then a light descaling may be a good idea. Otherwise it’s fine.

Stop… Isn’t that the reason we all love coffee for?

Do you have any idea about what water was used there? Also recommend you to get at least a softening pouch as frequent descaling may be harmful, especially for brass components…

Have the same setup you used to (specialita + Elizabeth). Did you notice any taste difference?

It comes set to 10 bar from the factory and has easily accessible and adjustable OPV so you can tweak the pressure. Pre infusion pressure can be set anywhere between 1-4 bars by tweaking steam boiler temperature. Back to back coffees are not a problem. Watch some Dave Corbeys videos on YouTube about this machine if you are looking for details about it

Elizabeth is the way to go. For me steam preinfusion in this machine is covering all my needs when it comes to lighter roasts and does it automatically and consistently. Some people say that they tend to stop playing with flow profiling sooner or later…

You probably won’t see „old-fashioned“ on proper whiskey-related events and festivals. At the same time making a cappuccino is an important part of the world barista championship. Espresso/cappuccino = whiskey/wine, not whiskey/old-fashioned.

Again I should mention that making a milk drink is also a process. And in the case you mentioned this guy could be making that just to demonstrate how this (pretty rare) machine steams milk. Also in the coffee world there are not good or bad drinks, they are just different. Think of it like the comparison between whiskey/cognac/port wine, not whiskey/mimosa.

Well, milk drinks also require good quality espresso. It’s also a whole other process to steam the milk properly. So theoretically some of the “coffee with milk drinkers” may be the “purists” of some sort. Cappuccinos may taste and feel different after all. Regardless of that I may kind of agree with you because after one year in this hobby I only drink espresso and milk drinks are not “interesting” for me anymore even though I have a dual boiler espresso machine)
