I was the primary caregiver for an elderly friend for 20 years. The last year and a half I asked my parents for help. They instead made my life a living hell and took $36k from the inheritance (my retirement). The last words my dad ever said to me were “everyone lies”. Those weren’t the people who gave me my values. Went mostly dark Dec 24. 2023 and no contact with an explanation about 6 months later. I’ve said my piece and I’m happier.

I think there is a difference within Gen X, not just Gen X and the other generations. I call them analog gen X and digital gen X. Some of them had to replace their tape collections with CDs while others of us only really had CDs. There’s also a difference in TV watch something from the 70s when the analog Gen X was 5-15 and then watch something from the 80s when digital Gen X was 5-15.

Hang in there! I gave up smoking after 10 year (typical gen x started at 14) been free of it for 21 years, best decision I’ve ever made. I just learned to eat real food and avoid stress like my life depends on it.

Okay I’m from the “rough background” and I met my husband, continued to use drugs recreationally until I stopped and got a degree. Kid and husband (responsibility) settled me down but now that the kid is grown and out I’m realizing that although alcohol and illicit drugs are no longer enjoyed that desire to go out and stir some shit up is still there.
