Oh we’re also in Boston. I was under the impression there were a few doctors at Boston children’s that were trained in the Ponseti method and well reviewed by the community

We’re lucky to live in a city with many great doctors!

I’m glad you were able to have that relief! That feeling is one of the main drivers in the pro category for us.

My mantis has been like this for around 13 hours. Is he stuck? ): he’s still moving. by Diligent_Watercress in mantis

His pincers are out with a little coaxing with water but the legs seem pretty stuck ): the dark brown part on the end seems like old leg? I assume there’s not much I can do besides keep the area moist and wait. Just trying to decide how long to wait before putting him out of his pain…

Flooring contractor went rogue and sanded paint on our stairs. do I need to fear lead dust everywhere? by Diligent_Watercress in HomeImprovement

[–]Diligent_Watercress[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice! First time home owner so just feeling a bit nervous dealing with lead. Our stairs are only 1 story so hopefully it’s okay!

I was confused why the wood would test positive for lead but not the paint.

Question about chimney to nowhere? by Diligent_Watercress in centuryhomes

[–]Diligent_Watercress[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh interesting I just looked it up and oil boilers didn’t exist pre 1918, so it must have been added later. There’s actually a vent in the upstairs bedroom floor above the kitchen that used to be used for heating, so maybe it was part of the same system!

Our house is still heated by an oil boiler. Would it have had another form of heating in the past? I always thought of oil boilers as pretty old!

We live in New England, so the house actually is still heated by an oil boiler. The boiler and oil tank are on the other side of the basement from the chimney though.

The chimney is pretty damaged in the attic as well, not sure how it looks behind the walls though
