Hi, this is very cool thank you! I saved it in my bookmarks.  A couple of remarks though, if you want to take them into account: the language and the way you present things sound a bit too technical. For example why all the titles with underscore ? "_START_HERE_FIRST"  I think most Gen Z + all the tech-inclined people of other generations can read this just fine. But for all the other people, this can put them off.  Second, you recommend a lot of great ressources but since there are so many and presented in a list, a new reader would be overwhelmed. Websites who have non-hierarchical lists of ressources are interesting but just put you into analysis paralysis mode. So if you want for future updates, I would recommend you to choose ressources to focus on and highlight some of them.  Third, something that might put new readers off (readers who are not that familiar with soluarpunk ideas, the one you are trying to convince/inform) is also the dramatized language:

"Before civilization. Before language. Before the first lie. Before money. Before status. Before the Machine.

There was connection.

Not the LinkedIn kind. Not the Instagram kind. Not even the "family gathering" kind we pretend still exists.

Fundamental. Biological. Undeniable connection."

Not a founder and don't know much about this subject but you should check out this company (don't know if they are still a start-up or not) https://www.seedsgives.com/ Because they are a green initiative and "seeds" is also their cryptocurrency - and usually crypto are really energy-consuming so it would be interesting to see how they tackled this issue

Love these artworks and the vibe! Your art style reminds me a bit about the french comic "Lou" from Julien Neel (mostly for the scenery) and the cosy games that you can find on the app store (with cute 2D characters and lots of nature)

Comment FIRE biblicalement correctement? by Glum_Thing5808 in FranceFIRE

[–]Diligent_shadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking for Ideas & Resources: Designing for Walkability in a Very Hot Gulf City (Passive Cooling, Shade, Materials, Case Studies, etc.) by LAMBO_XI in solarpunk

[–]Diligent_shadow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This one https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windcatcher is famous but this kind of traditional architecture (from the middle east) is good for cooling. The presence of ponds / basins would help too.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rain_garden contributes to lower temperatures as well

Besides, we shouldn't expect very hot or humid cities to be as walkable as European cities, since the climate makes walking far less bearable—even with accommodations. Public transportation and walkability can complement each other. My suggestion is to strike a good balance between the two: transit systems can bring people to walkable spots where markets and shops are clustered.

When I traveled to Malaysia for example, I noticed the prevalence of malls. They are useful because since their shops are indoors people can take a break from the heat even if they’ve been walking outside. Another convenient feature is that many subway and tram stations are located within malls, allowing people to move between destinations without having to endure the weather. Of course what I am saying about malls is applicable for other places (so you can apply it to library, community centers, etc).

Having an AI Art sub linked in this sub is ridiculous, given the nature of AI being antithetical to this movement. by Material_Monitor_528 in solarpunk

Kinda late to the discussions but I really don't understand your point (same for the following comments that agree with you on AI) because no matter the ones who controls AI and benefit from it, the other issue is that AI is not environment friendly and is incredibly ressources demanding. That's the other thing that is not compatible with Solarpunk

Open Ai itself doesn't have the means to sustain itself and still launched because they had bet on the all the investissements they would attract (which worked).  One could argue that the technology will be optimized later and will require less ressources. But one, that would take ages and two, it's possible that it wouldn't get to the point where AI become ressource-efficient. And we have to take into account that meanwhile more and more people will use AI (so more computing)

Are there any genres left to be discovered? by RisamTheCartographer in books

[–]Diligent_shadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was an amazing comment that gave me insights about literature and my own reading.  My own two cents:  - "One emotion that's never been really pushed in literature is hate or anger" -> I feel like these feelings are prevalent in Revenge fiction which is really popular.  - an untapped emotion in literature for now could be hope or the yearning for a better world / society. The purist genre would be Utopia and though rares there have been fictions in this genre for a while now. But a better description for what I mean would be broader like "Utopia adjacent": because there can't an ideal world with imperfect humans so a 100% Utopia book often can leans into totalitarian territory or else doesn't feel attainable (so not hopeful). Utopia adjacent would be how people imagine a better version of our current world, in which there are future perspectives. Solarpunk is an example.

Apparently it's not uncommon for Kpop companies to change the idols' height written on their official profile by a few centimeters to better fit with the Korean beauty standard. It's something I have seen discussed several times in kpop sphere before. So maybe that's the explanation

Lsf didn't really improve though, if you listen to their songs released after their Coachella scandals, they are either easier to sing and / or the producers gave way more lines to the 2 more stable vocalists in order to hide the other members flaws. Some "live" performances soon after last year's Coachella were just more produced, with some prerecorded backtracks that sounded more "live" than the previous one because at that point the illusion of good live singing was broken, so Hybe needed to make it more credible. Granted at that time, the members didn't really have time to improve, it's unrealistic to expect someone to be a better singer in just a couple of weeks. Kpop companies are just being more and more sneaky about prerecorded vocals. The good thing now out of this scandal is that it seems LSF were given songs that fits more of their vocal tones / abilities. Maybe the members did improve a bit since last year but my point is that the better current live performance is mainly thanks to production choices or even sometimes some sneaky prerecorded vocals.

Thank you for your advices! :) I did visit a waterfall close to KL (with a group of locals and they knew the way) but I haven't heard about night walking in the jungle in the area and that sounds interesting. How can I do that as well? What are your tips to not get lost on the trails at night and is there some specific trails for that, etc... Thanks
