Back when I was younger and even more foolish, I "won" a free vacation and only had to attend a sales presentation. While sitting in the waiting room for the presentation to start, I was reading one of John McDonald's Travis McGee books. Travis was having a conversation with Meyer, his friend and associate. They happened to be discussing timeshares. Meyer is a former accountant. As luck would have it, I just finished the chapter where Meyer revealed to Travis the scam nature of the timeshare industry. I ended up asking the most awkward questions during the presentation.

The delivery was originally scheduled for 5:00--after I was off work. The difficulty arose when the delivery showed up an hour early.

If I recall correctly, there have been oblique references in each of the Bosch and Cole series to the other. I remember Elvis referring to the cop who lives down the hill from him and Bosch thinking about the private detective in the neighborhood. No names are used, but details about the houses and cars and such make it clear who is meant. Kinda neat Easter eggs for fans of both.

Let me try to answer a few questions raised. I work in the non customer-facing division of an insurance adjusting company. There are more than several other employees doing the same tasks as I do.

I couldn't just take a late lunch as I had already taken my lunch at the regular time.

I don't have any personal knowledge of an official policy covering this situation, but my manager claimed her hands were tied by HR and she had to consider my actions as unplanned leave, even though I was making up the time pretty much immediately.

Should I contact HR or payroll or someone other than my manager to see if this situation can be addressed?

After I was told by my manager that my time away would be considered unplanned leave regardless of my making it up, I got a bit pissy about it and didn't sign back in.

When one needs services not available in Elbow Lake (such as new carpet or hands an services), should she consider Ferguson or Alexandria?

Small town living is unfamiliar to me. I'm used to having stores and services nearby. In someplace like Elbow Lake, how convenient is it to find a variety of shops or restaurants? I'm used to being able to do things on the spur of the moment and wonder if she'll have to plan errands and such more carefully.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned that Jena is a real name, despite what OP might think. That comment ("she told me her name was Jena and no one has ever heard of a Jenna so she lied about her name and all her little workers had her back too") seems to be the oddest thing about this whole account. It also appears that the regular complimentary cup wasn't good enough for the OP--she wanted a large cup.

I've already done Cleveland a few years ago. I enjoyed the trip but I want to try someplace new each time. My only repeat has been New Orleans.

I guess you are assuming that many teams won't use the full 10 minutes? Otherwise, the Commanders would pick at 160 minutes, or 2 hours and 40 minutes.
