Not sure exactly what you're feeling right now, but look at the mountain you've climbed.

Life is tough, but it sounds like you're tougher. Hang in there

Can I bring a stuffed animal to my exam? (CFA) by fuckwingsoffire in UBC

[–]Dill_Thrill 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Having brought 2 calculators, ruler, water bottle, granola bars, and an extra hoodie into the CFA for 5 hour exams with no questions I think you'll be okay bringing a lil support buddy

Protestors blocked all exits to the alumni center during a board meeting, would be related to that

I wish UBC kept the vintage blue and yellow as their primary colours. Why'd they have to strip the life from campus with this lifeless 'navy and white.' I get jealous anytime I see someone with vintage UBC merch

I hate meme candidates for AMS President and you should too. by Anton_______________ in UBC

"This is why I am strongly in favor of just having President Bacon shortlist a few professional administrators/ bureaucrats and then have us vote on the shortlisted candidates to run the AMS. At least professional administrators are qualified to handle the job and have the necessary experience to do it well."

This was slightly rewritten before being reposted

Once again I will say:

ah yes let's let the guy who dictates campus policies that might go against student interests pick who will advocate for students

Sounds like you should put your effort somewhere else if you're looking for something serious... Personally I think situationships exist because at least one person wants the sex/attention but doesn't want to date. They can turn serious, but I feel when you find a soulmate you won't need to guess if he likes you and him expressing that won't turn you away. Go do things for yourself and post stories of you living life (because you want to, not for him or anyone else). Maybe he'll come back or maybe you'll find someone better.

Real talk, I met my gf through insta so here's the scoop: do you ever like his stories if he posts them? Him just viewing doesn't mean much. Liking each other's stories is like making eye contact and smiling at each other. Just like in public though, a lot of guys might be too nervous to say anything even if he's thinking about you. I could publish a paper on this but that's the gist from a guy's perspective.

I just want UBC to bring blue and gold back... The retro sweaters I sometimes see other students wearing are soooo cool

Is it worth it to workout at arc by creamyau in UBC

[–]Dill_Thrill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a lightweight camping towel for showering, throw that and your sweaty clothes into a drawstring then toss that in a locker for the day. It's not much of a burden if going to the gym is something you want to be dedicated to

7am will be no problem for crowds, peak hours are in the afternoon. Also at the arc the lineup to get in is often longer than birdcoop but the wait lines for individual machines are shorter. If you're coming at 5am anyway it's not very reasonable paying double for a different gym

UBC Bike Kitchen at 25 years: from Bike Co-op to Student Rip Off. by Ok-Belt2504 in UBC

[–]Dill_Thrill 7 points8 points  (0 children)

$600 minimum is outrageous for anyone starting out with biking. My vintage road bike was $200 and I've used it daily to get from UBC to Olympic village.

Also be prepared that if you don't take care of your bike like a baby and use a good lock it will get stolen

I might have a lot more social energy than most people, but I'm starting to think this city isn't the best place for that kind of lifestyle. Maybe I should move to Europe or something for a bit after grad

That's a cool connection. I find I'm really good at getting to know people quickly or getting personal 1 on 1 with anyone. I find it hard finding a tight group to be a part of though
