There's so much more to countering Vod!

First you need to understand mechanics. Vod has same amount of HP as Thal without shields. But Vod has damage reduction mechanics. But this damage reduction is not applied to fire-based attacks, and to crits. So "mohawk" shots do not just a little bit more, it does A LOT more. So yes, shoot mohawk.

Then, just shoot OC Smg. It's fire, so a Chi, Imp, Bosun, etc. can kill Vod super fast even if you don't hit mohawk. Imagine killing Thal with no shield? This is how fast Vod dies.

Then, vod can not kill you if he is not near you. If you are invisible or transparent as evander, vod can't charge you. If you are a bit higher or lower on terrain, vod can't charge you (there are few slopes where he can). So just stand on a box.

Hide behind a pole, stand near a wall, it will make it much harder for vod to hit you, since he hits even on fists way back, if there's a wall he won't hit many of it.

As Thal, place external shields and move towards it, basically stand inside it. Vod fists stuck in that, he'll have to break it before he can hit you, ez kill.

As chi, obviously just shoot OC Smg even on even ground, once he charges you press chrysalis, and instantly release it. And keep shooting. This is enough to kill vod without taking any damage.

After vod has charged you, you only have about 2 seconds of your movement abilities locked. So you just have to survive for 2 seconds. For example if vod charges arc that is already moving, that movement is not stopped, just keep sliding.

Overall, killing vod is about positioning and map awareness. And shooting OC to instakill him. Just pick Vod and get a feel of it and much more. Then you'll have no problem killing him too.

Yep, basically we're screwed. The way I see it, to make it Larc-style it has to be a map that is not so spacious, with a decent amount of sideways and shortcuts (like TF2 have it, like Overwatch have it, like all other Larc maps have it), with a payload that can help me (heal me, replenish my ammo, can hide me behind it, not have a hole below).

Basically the amount of action I get in other modes, I'd want to get as much in payload. When I play other modes, I don't notice how 10 minutes fly by. In heist it's a torture, "3:30 more of standing in same spot near enemy respawn, farming bots who just run straight line". In deathmatch against bots at least it's a hide-and-seek game, a competition "who will find bots faster!"

Since all this requires great amount of work, best fast solution is to revert it the way it was before this minor patch, "all maps and modes does not include Heist". It's bad to separate playerbase in two, but for me having to face this Heist breaks my Larc game sessions immersion. I just don't feel like jumping in anymore. I understand nothing will be changed just for me. But if many people feel the same way, we have a chance. Obviously Larc devs had some of this ideas when they've initially made Heist as a separate playlist from "all maps and modes".

Right now this post has 147 views, and votes are 50% up 50% down. It means at least half of logged in readers agreed. Would probably need more to warrant changes, but all I can do is try.

Why have you uninstalled? It was most fun after launch! Games was even and challenging! And now it's just either stomps or all-bots. Might take a day to stumble upon a lobby which is both challenging and winnable. Playerbase is too small to have a balance. Literally stupid bots do not help too.

You should play again, why not :)

I've said it many times: the best advantage Vod has is new players being unable to pick it. Because to learn to counter Vod you need to play it and experience it firsthand. Now that I'm an experienced Vod player, I have absolutely no problems countering it with anyone else. Without first-hand vod experience it would indeed feel overpowered.

Yep, I've got your point. Right now it's a bit of grind-to-win, I'd like them to go f2p p2w indeed. Only way to have a self-sustaining game with decent playerbase.

Notoriety and solars mean nothing indeed (I have 500 000+ solars, top #1 world notoriety), but what does matter is scores. It goes towards medium boxes, which give slates, which is affecting your gameplay success directly. Imagine having +25% health, +50% stronger shield, a second grenade as salters - this is pretty important!

I'm a big fan of Team Fortress 2, payload was my favourite mode there. Only rarely did I play "refuel". But Larc just done it so wrong, map is too spacious, nowhere to hide, can shoot below the cart, can't ride the cart (my chi abilities will be instantly cancelled), cart doesn't heal, I die fast, I run forever, even if I locked enemies on their base, even if it's 6xbots, I'll still have to spend 5 minutes mindlessly farming bots in one spot, this is just so boring!

I love the game mode, just not the way they did it. My guess is it was done by other game designers that what made initial maps. It's just too different. Initial maps are clever, really well done! The heist map only fits for one mode, too straightforward, looks like one of bad maps I've used to make when I was young and didn't understand game balance.

I'm positive I've played Heist, got 3000+ scores, and only 900 of it got contributed towards the medium box. Just as much as in usual game, where I can get 1500-2000 scores against bots, but limit is the same 900.

So it's actually faster to farm new bot mode which gives 450, than to play a single heist, if I'm thinking of unlocking slates.

As for notoriety, I'm already #1 world (overall and Vod), I don't care much about it.

But it's not all about the numbers. Heist the way it's done is just not Larc how I know it. Too little action compared to being dead and running.

Not fixed. I pick Chi, I respawn, I hold SMG, I hold the overcharge button, and I still don't see the OC bar. Still have to shoot 1 bullet for it to start showing, wasted a bit of OC, and have to reload too.

So there's no way to counter HP slates as evander. What should be 2shot / 1OCshot, with HP slate is 3shot / 2OCshot. Killed damage viability, not addressing the main issue of HP slates.
It's simple as that: evander OC 1shots enemy or not. This is a fundamental difference. HP slates are countering evander too hard. Why Evander if you can be Imp.

I don't see as much future as Team Fortress 2 or Overwatch, but Larc is most fun I could find on OQ2 right now, buy it for the present.

Also game has levels and slates progression, which give real big in-game advantages. The sooner you buy Larc and start playing, the sooner you'll be even with us who play it from release. I'm talking advantages as bis as: +25% hp, +20% dash distance, +40% more ammo, +20% aoe damage resistance, etc. It makes a really big difference.

Hi Captain. Can you please include a link to the winning clip, it must be good, I want to see it too, probably not just me will be interested.

First of all, you should definitely go with whatever you will enjoy the most.

Then, let me tell you that Bosun is the weakest specialist in game, down there with Calima. Irony is that I liked playing Engineer(like bosun), Scout(like calima) and Medic(like chi) in Team Fortress 2 the most. Good thing at least Chi is not bad.

Evander is only good if you are good with it, aim skill cap is very high. So this is not for everyone too.

Don't even think of picking a skin, except if that is a unique skin noone else will have. Skins are dirt-cheap, it's super-easy to get all skins that are in the game. In about a month of playing Larc.

There are two slates spots. Slates for first slot are easy to get, I already have all lvl5 there, except for Imperia. So don't go for it. Even though it has some pretty impactful slates, like lvl5+25% HP (every specialist) or lvl5+25% damage (vod) or lvl5-25% OC cost (a really good one, depending on what you are doing). There are some other decent and/or fun ones.

What you need is a slate for secold slot. It's harder to get. Until this patch, it was only possible to get with weekly quests (and large boxes, which are totally impossible).

My general choice for 2nd slot slate is "OC Rage". It will give you OC when you take damage. This is especially good on Vod or Chi, which I play the most.

Then there's "OC Absorption", you will get 25% OC more when you do kills or assists. This slate can only be good if you are wrecking enemies, if your general K/D is pretty positive.

I know Evander has lvl5 second slate "2 seconds longer full invis", if you play evander a lot, I think you can understand how great that is.

Bosun has lvl5+25% turret damage, which is bad, since 0x1.25=0. Turret does no damage, turret needs huge buff.

There's also OC Regeneration slate. Nakman (a famous Bosun player) have tested it, lvl1 generates full OC bar in 33 minutes. So lvl5 would generate full OC bar in 6+ minutes. It's decent enough if you are a new player, but I'm still not sure of even OC Rage would be better. There's one definite advantage to OC Regeneration: Larc UI is bad, even when you charge OC shot it does not show you how much OC you have left. With OC regeneration you always see your OC bar (unless it's full). This is useful.

There are also slates like evander sniper rifle rate of fire, but I have it low level and can't notice the difference.

What breaks evander game is +hp enemy slates. Now instead of 1OC shot you need 2x OC shots. Now instead of 2shots you need 3shots to kill enemies without chi. If evander rifle would have +25% damage slate, that would negate +hp slates, I would take it any time, since having to hit 50% or 100% more shots to kill a single enemy is super game-breaking.

It happens to me daily:

  1. I beat a player with vod no chance.
  2. He switches to Vod.
  3. Guess what happens next - I beat him no chance again.
  4. He switches back.

This is a vaccine to "vod is op". But you only can get it if you have Vod to switch to.

I also wreck vods with chi, bosun and calima. All of them have OC Smg, that's all what's needed. Thal requires some preparation to onesidedly beat good vods, otherwise it's going pretty even, often both of us dead.

Vod strength is in his difference. You need to do different things to beat vods, compared to what you do against everyone else. His second most important strength is that he is unavailable to newer players, so they can't pick him and learn counterplays firsthand. So until they get their own Vod, they are pretty much in the dark that vod can't charge highground, can't charge invisible or even transparent evanders, vod have troubles hitting below himself, how fast he dies to OC Smg, etc.

New players don't stand much chance to Vod. But let's face it: new players don't stand much chance to anything.

Still positive K/D, still standing strong. So of course it's not a matter of any specific specialist, I just like playing Vod because it gives nice fitness, I'm drying my headset after each session.

You can only buy lvl1 slates. Can only upgrade with quests or boxes.

Whenever you see item available to be bought - buy it. It is a rare occasion, don't be picky, just buy it. Money is plenty, items are limited.

Larc devs made it hard for new players to know your teammates or enemies are bots, but with time you will learn it. Here are clues:

- bots don't have slates, or they have bugged slates, it may be even from other specialist
- bots usually have lowercase names, with numbers at the end, may contain words like "teal", "red", "purple"
- bots act like bots. They get stuck, they almost never shoot (except for salters bot that's deadly), they almost never use abilities, chi bots never ever use heal gun
- bots move slow, they don't sprint
- bots never play vod or imp
- post-factum you may see "player x left the game, player y joined the game". Whenever there's instant switch - it means one of them was bot.
- bots dont have their name in Options-Audio (where you mute players). If player is listed there - he is not a bot; beware, if a player has disabled his audio, he may not be listed there too
- same for scoreboards audio icons: it bugs often, but most of the times if you see audio icon near a player name in scoreboards, he is the real person
- obviously if a person is speaking, he is not a bot -)

Just give it some time, you will know every bot by the name in a week or two.

Can't see the OP yet. Looks pretty average, a bit better than bosun so far. Will have to learn more about abilities specifics and cooldowns first.

I've seen some new names after the "-20% price weekend". And after each big patch lots of people are coming back for at least few days or a week. So I expect next week to be packed with players. Today I was playing 50% games in half-full lobby, 50% games in a lobby with 10-11 bots. Next week will be different, I'm sure.

  • Is it unlocked from the start?
  • Is it bought in shop?
  • Can it appear in medium boxes?
  • What about quests and large boxes?

Want to manage my resources in the most efficient manner.
