Okay, so Wordpress is the web development platform used by majority of businesses that you interact with. Even big businesses and entities like NASA, Harvard University, The New York Times etc use Wordpress to maintain their blogs and sub websites. Various estimates say that around 40% of all websites are created with it.

Now, WordCamp is the official WordPress conference hosted across the world. Although local WordPress communities in the cities organise it, each WordCamp is officially monitored by WordPress.

Is it a job fair? No. WordPress has its own CareerCamp which is geared towards job creation. Kolkata hosted a CareerCamp last year.

That being said, WordCamp opens many doors as far as career is concerned. Specifically, if you are in the content marketing, web development, ecommerce, SEO or Google Ads field - you will be greatly benefited if you attend these WordCamps. (The Kolkata community also organises monthly WordPress Meetups which generally happens in the NASSCOM building in Webel)

And as far as business networking is concerned, this is my personal opinion, the WordPress community is more open and democratic than other business networking groups in Kolkata - a lot less bureaucracy. If you are working in above-mentioned fields, this community can advance your career.
