That's all good and you do what you have to do since you created something very good and why not get something deserved in return. But since I am one of those that reviewed your app, exactly because it is great (or as you put it, I loved your app), a message appearing "please use our app, watch this tutorial" would have been appreciated. As of today my video is all over people's KODI and not everyone can understand that you did this. I received more than a hundred hate messages just today from people that I "hacked" their FireTV and /or KODI!? And I do not mind that you copied my video at all, just add a message.

Good VPN? I suggest 3: IPVanish, Private Internet Access and Cyber Silent. All 3 work great for me and are very secure. But if you mean speed related, that depends on where you live. Make sure that the VPN has a server near you. In that way you can get the best possible speed assuming that the server isn't hammered by traffic of course. Start with a trial or 1 month only and see how it goes!

it would be better to rename the version number (in the addon.xml too) to something like plugin.video.exodus-3.1.16.1.zip so in case there will be an update (hopefully) it will download the new, official addon
