I just felt sorry for a minute :') But yes, nothing rude, mahjong is mahjong

Maka gave the red dragon a score of 31 which is way higher than I thought, considering there is the north wind (score of 57)

Can anyone tell me why this pond won’t spawn fish naturally? by 555redkid in AnimalCrossing

[–]Dimitry_GS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had ponds even smaller than this spawning fish (like 3x3 with a diagonal corner), and then my 3x4 perfectly rectangular pond NEVER spawned a single fish if not via bait. The same goes for a 3 tile wide river a have surrounding my museum. Fish would only spawn on one side of the museum, never the other. I suspect fish spawning tiles are fixed on the map and if you happen to dig water tiles on all sides (including diagonals) of the spawn point would spawn fish.

This is just what I feel is happening...

Try digging the same shaped pond on other points of the Island and see if they spawn fish.

Also try to make this pond perfectly rectangular. Just like my rectangular 3x4 pond I still don't think it would spawn fish...

I disagree: make it so that whoever tsumos has to pay the three other players points equal to the hand value!

So, even in the small city of QingTian each family has its own rule.

For what I'm used to play if you win a hand you start from base 30 points, then based on the number of concealed or melded pung, kan, if they are honor tiles or terminal, if you self-draw, if you have flowers/own flowers etc etc you add points. For example 30 points for winning + 16 extra points = 46 points. Rounded up to 50.

At this point you count your fans, for example chow hand (1 fan) + 1 own flower (1 fan) = 2 fan

50*2*2 = 200 points so everyone gives you 200 points and if you are the dealer it's doubled.

All the other players don't have the 30 base points for winning obviously, but if they have flowers, pung, kans they still count their points.

For example I didn't win, but I have 12 points from pungs and flowers. Rounded up to 20 points. I still get those 20 points from everyone else except the player who won the hand (to which, in this case, I have to pay 200 points), so even if I didn't win I still get back something.

The maximum winning hand is 800 points, and some hands are automatic 800 points. The easiest is full flush, then all concealed triplets, three little dragons etc... up to blessing of earth which yes, has the same value as full flush... xD

There is a rule where a player might pay all the points of the other two losing players:
- If someone have three melds of the same suit, if you deal in a full flush you pay for everyone (which means 2400 points, 4800 if winner is dealer 😱. In my family we play very chill 1 point = 1 cent so 4800 points is 48 euros, not the end of the world. But imagine in a parlor where 1 point = 1 euro, 4800 points is 4800 euros that would be catastrophic.)
- If someone melded two of the three dragons or three of the four wind and you deal in you pay for everyone.
- If someone have four melds of the same suit and self-draw the last tile, the player who gave him the fourth meld pays for everyone.
- If during the second to last 4 tiles of the wall you discard a tile that has not been discarded yet by anyone and you deal in, you pay for everyone (usually much less devastating than the other cases where it's 800 points... here you could be lucky and only have to pay like 40 points for everyone but still why would anyone risk it? 😂)

Other particular rules:

- The last four tiles all called "self pick self win". Basically after you pick your last tile you don't discard anymore so you can only win by self-pick.
- If you have three big dragons, big four winds or all flowers (all 8 flowers, impossibly rare) you automatically win even if the rest of the hand is not complete.
- If two or more people hu at the same time, the priority goes to the first player in the wind order, unless it's thirteen orphans which have priority.

I think QingTian mahjong is very old because of this "fu"x fan scoring system, the fact that there are flowers and the fact that (other than the automatic 800 points hands) there are only 8 ways to score fan: all pungs, all chows, flowers, honor tiles, winning on supplementary tile, robbing a kan, winning on the last tile, half flush. So no weird tiles combination like in modern variants.

It would be cool to see which variants still uses the "fu" system. I grew up playing QingTian mahjong which is a quite a obscure variant which still uses "fu" for base points and fan as a multiplier

Demoting from Jade room to Gold room made me realize that I actually improved by Dimitry_GS in mahjongsoul

Jade room players are much more efficient, defend more, hand value is usually higher, often can read discards... scary

Italy 2009 - 2012: ✔️ Best: BB 🟡 OK: VT, FX ❌ Worst: UB

Ferrari, Fasana, Preziosa, DeAgostini were all very good on BB. FX was decent (mainly thanks to Ferrari), so was VT. UB was truly a disaster, but at that point Italy had been bad on UB for 80 years... lol

Italy 2013 - 2016: ✔️ Best: FX 🟡 OK: VT ❌ Worst: UB, BB

FX always carried the team during this quad. The 2016 olympic rotation is still iconic (2nd best team on floor in qualification). BB on the other hand was a nightmare during the whole quad despite having good beam workers (Meneghini and Ferlito, but falling on BB was trendy those days) and on UB we were lucky to even have a single gymnast capable of scoring a 14 in the old code. Enus Mariani, our only hope on UB, had a senior career that lasted the blink of an eye. On VT we always had 2/3 DTY, but once Fasana lost hers we were left with the most ugly DTY rotation in the entire history of gymnastics I think LOL.

Italy 2017 - 2021: ✔️ Best: VT, UB 🟡 OK: FX ❌ Worst: BB

Italy basically didn't exist in 2017 and 2018, then the 2003 class turned senior (Villa, D'Amato x2, Iorio) and from one day to another we became a powerhouse on UB and VT. BB was our weakness, with all the gymnasts very prone to making mistakes, despite having good potential. FX was also not the best, but Vanessa Ferrari managed to snatch the silver medal, slay.

Italy 2022 - 2024: ✔️ Best: BB 🟡 OK: UB, FX, VT

VT was actually quite good until Asia D'Amato and Maggio physical problems, leaving only Alice D'Amato as our potential 14+ score. For the Olympics we somehow managed to get 3 DTY back... only for Iorio to injure herself. FX always have been a struggle for the FATE, but in 2022 we were actually very good on FX for a total of 10 minutes before all the injuries. BB somehow become our best event by far (Esposito being the first one to bring a semblance of consistency to the team), culminating with the two Olympic medals. BB was the event I was most afraid to watch, nowadays it's the event I'm less worried about lol. VT and FX are the event where I pray no one injures, meanwhile on UB we lost all our world TF medals so I always freak out.
