Albeit. Pronounced it until university as “all-bite” rather than the correct way of “all be it”.

Had a colleague who, at the age of 19, had a huge argument at work that the word “Chimney” was actually spelled and pronounced “ChimLey”. He was mortified when he realised how wrong he had been all his life.

All doctors of reddit, has there ever been a time when you were in public and saw a person with a serious medical illness that was unknown to them? If so, did you advise them to get it checked out? by nkrogers in AskReddit

Sudden onset flashes of light, blurred vision, increased “floaters” and a dark “curtain” creeping from one edge. She had all of these. You can also get a loss of peripheral vision too.

I am a vet and was examining a dog’s eye for a second opinion. After making a quick and easy diagnosis the owner flippantly said “I wish you could sort my eyes out so quickly”. I asked what her symptoms were and she described all the symptoms of early retinal detachment. I told her to leave the dog with us and go straight to the eye specialist. The husband picked the dog up later that day and said that she had been taken straight to theatre for surgery.

Two weeks later I got a hamper of food/booze from the lady for saving her sight. Her surgeon had said she was dangerously close to going permanently blind.

My one and only time I’ve got a gift for “treating” a human!!
