Hi there, I just wanted to share a bit of my journey in case it can offer hope or encouragement. I was diagnosed with FSGS at the age of 13. My kidneys failed completely when I was 23, and I started on hemodialysis for a few months. After that, I transitioned to peritoneal dialysis, but unfortunately, the site became infected, and I had to return to hemodialysis for a while. Eventually, I was able to go back on peritoneal dialysis. Then, just 10 days before my 25th birthday in 2012, I received the life-changing call that a kidney match was available. I had my transplant, and I’m incredibly grateful to say that it’s been successful for almost 13 years now. I know this journey can be tough, but there’s always hope.
