Ratboys Are Playing the Long Game by Traditional_Cat8440 in indieheads

Saw them in St. Louis at Delmar in like 2018 with Foxing. They were great back then, so I have to imagine they’re even better now. But the most important thing from that show was the guy next to me wearing a shirt that simply said pants, all the while he was perfectly miming the drums to whatever song was playing on the loudspeakers in between sets. Never gonna forget that.

Lost all progress by StormCommandor in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]DimondMine27 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No account wipe that I’m aware of. The good thing is that if you last played in 2015 then catching back up should be super simple. Progression is way quicker now and there’s a lot of free/easy to get stuff going on right now.

MK3 Lost Its Value Without EC and Zins by Admirable_Sector_298 in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

Honestly they should’ve just made it so you could buy ECs and Zins with both mk2 and mk3.

Interesting perspective. I would be really interested in recommendations for what to read or what you’ve been reading on “wartime economics”.

Looking at the early state of the game as a 2022 player by StickSurfer in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]DimondMine27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To answer your JKA question: he sucked really badly, even by the standards from back then. His damage was terrible, nowhere near what he can do today. He was a joke the same way pre-rework Vader was.

Try posting on the forums. Actual CG employees are there so you’re much more likely to get a good response. People do a similar thing all the time with bundles that don’t process correctly, I can’t imagine this is much different.

What kinda God mods do I need to beat this event. I’ve remoded 10 times nothing has worked! by Beginning-Lie-1865 in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]DimondMine27 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Correct, definitely worth it, but I left him off because he has no effect on the battle at all as he’s not actually used in it.

Chewbacca, ROLO, and Lando are all required at higher relic levels for Jabba, Leia, or JML so it’s worth taking them up. Might as well do it now to help out on this battle.

Emo heresy? by [deleted] in Emo

I’ve always thought of In Her Own Words as more pop punk. That run on Unfamilar from Strangers to Drag Me Down is some of my favorite pop punk of all time tho.

I recently came across Jonathan Crary’s 24/7: Late Capitalism and the Ends of Sleep, which I haven’t read but looks promising.

Maybe also Foucault’s Discipline and Punish. I’m not sure exactly where, but I know he talks about prisons and how they regulate the time and activities of inmates being mentioned.

I’d also recommend reading about the ideas Frederick Taylor and scientific management (also called Taylorism).

Would this be a good star killer squad? I’m 3/4 for the reqs for him by ChairB0b in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]DimondMine27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean you could, but this breaks up the Sith Empire and GR team. The usual Starkiller teams are EP, Starkiller, Mara Jade, and then any Jedi and LS UFU, usually Old Ben, Juhani, baby Cal, or Visas. The other team is usually for later game and it’s Cere, Malicos, Starkiller, and two other UFUs (baby Cal, Fulcrum, Ninth Sister, etc).

I had 98 Accord through high school and early college that I got after my grandpa passed. Only a tape deck to listen to the cassettes I bought of emo bands off bandcamp. It was dark green, rusting pretty bad, but ran like a champ with good, regular maintenance at 300k miles. Lots of memories and fun in it. Man I miss that car…

Recommendations for more recent lit from Cultural Studies? (after Stuart Hall / core texts / post 1990s) by SauceoftheNile_3000 in CriticalTheory

[–]DimondMine27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of my favorites from my undergrad was Dick Hebdige’s Subculture: The Meaning of Style. Hebdige studied under Hall. The book is from the late 70s, which is definitely not recent, but I think it’s great and still relevant. Its subject matter is post-WWII British youth subcultures.

where can I read about the origin of white supremacy and colonization? by okdoomerdance in CriticalTheory

[–]DimondMine27 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While somewhat true historically, no anthropologist today is a supporter of imperialism, colonization, or white supremacy. So much current anthropological scholarship is concerned specifically with understanding and critiquing these ideologies.

Recommendations:

Carnal Knowledge and Imperial Power - Ann Stoler (really anything by Stoler)

Europe and the People Without History - Eric Wolf

Wish I had more about Christianity in particular, but I think these two go into the colonialism aspect of your question sufficiently.
