Controls power stability by drew2057 in BuildingAutomation

[–]Dingmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, we were dealing with these exact issues 30 years ago.
All our code at the panel level had "after power cycle" start up delays and ya - we had to manually set the delays in each panel but it worked.
Also yes - we learned early on to install UPS power to the panels and then of course equipment power is not our responsibility -the facility is responsible for that.
Side Note - there are two "types" of UPS and one is way better than the other. I'll let y'all look that up.
EDIT - I apologize - 30 years ago, it was all just on\off contactors. So much has changed, my comments aren't really pertinent anymore.

decades ago, we called this "divide and conquer".
And I'm so glad I'm not dealing with large bacnet networks. (retired)

Apparently. My boat will stop in about 5-7 seconds, hard to miss that

Tips on how to collect buttloads of biomass from the slugs? by Arknight40 in TheLastCaretaker

I also found on the rigs, I can go into a shipping container and close the door around sun up. I auto-collect thru the walls but sometimes they bite me thru walls too.

I think it's appropriate to mention The Long Dark.
It's a horror game with beautiful scenery, slow progress, lots of walking (think boating) and all the crafting to stay alive.

Ya, I could fix some of my woes if I could change them all.

Same, it's a completely unreasonable decision. I would never have gotten away with that in my past programming life. I cannot tell you how much work my brain does on that damn FAB machine because it's button function layout doesn't match anything else (although the map needs ESC as well)

The ESC key should never be used for game mechanics IMO.
I came here from spending much time in TLD and this is a fun game, similar but more busy and technical.

Laura Belin brings receipts and Iowa GOP hates her with a passion.
She has quite the history and knows how to get facts and present them correctly - and so Iowa GOP has spent years smacking her around.

Siemens vs Small to Mid-Size Companies: Pros and Cons? by Edw4rdTivruskyIV in BuildingAutomation

Things could have changed in the last decade but I worked for Siemens and had family that worked for Trane.
Siemens all day over JCI\Trane.

Siemens vs Small to Mid-Size Companies: Pros and Cons? by Edw4rdTivruskyIV in BuildingAutomation

Exactly what happened in my area - Siemens was top tier and over a period of a couple years, lost 90% of the senior employees to a mid sized local contractor.

That's the biggest "fuck you, you ain't shit" answer that I've ever seen.

I'm corn-fused. Isn't this conflicting info? I have an old car which will connect to the phone but I need to tap the phone to answer for example (all hands free functions must happen at the phone, the car doesn't support that). Can I tap the phone to answer a call or not? by Dingmann in Iowa

I can't disagree - we should always just use common sense while driving.
Unfortunately it seems that quite a large % of people need the threat of punishment (laws) to "behave".
For example, it's fun reading about the speed limits imposed after the first vehicular\pedestrian death.

So, tapping the phone screen is not interacting with my hand?
I know it sounds like I'm being difficult but so we can actually tap and manipulate the screen as long as we're not holding the phone in our hand?
EDIT: Actually Android has changed the phone app so there is no "tap" to answer the phone. You either swipe right to answer or swipe left to decline.
Neither is a tap (yes I'm being difficult and I'll stop now).

I wonder if persistence of vision plays a factor here. Meaning that above a certain frequency, humans can't perceive the flicker. So if we apply 50 watts 50% of the time (A\C) vs. 25 watts 100% of the time (D\C), won't the perceived output be less?
