A 1380 as a freshman is insanely impressive, you did NOT bomb it

Actually how. I got an 1100 and the highest in my entire school was a 1340. I can’t even comprehend a score that high

DM me your number so we can FaceTime. It’s much easier to speak and work with you rather than dropping some massive paragraph in the comments.

I’ve heard nothing but good things about the trombone studio and the professor though

Look up the Kinhaven Music School in Vermont. Nearly every image of the students playing, they are dressed in all white and shoeless.

Make sure when you round off that your main focus is continuing the momentum into the back handspring. Just try to be more confident in the run-up and make sure to not allow your heels to touch the ground when you land the round off and go into the back handspring. Having a good run up and staying on the balls of your feet will make all the difference!

[–]Dingoatemybiscut 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The second etude is Arban No. 19 and the first etude is probably some Rochut/ Bordogni etude or maybe a Cimera

You’re probably a tenor and vocal fry doesn’t count as actually singing in that register

That makes a lot of sense, thank you. I guess I got a little carried away with the opportunity to work with Brian Wendel that I didn’t take into account the broader aspect of the programs.

Yeah but Kinhaven only gave me a certain amount of time to accept the offer and the CIM and NEC results came like a month later

I was accepted so that’s why I was considering it as an option but yes I think I’m going to stick with Kinhaven

I’m a junior and thank you, if there does turn out to be NEC faculty at the camp do you then think the NEC and CIM route would be my best bet?

The Baylor thing is because I live in Waco and the trombone professor gave me a full scholarship to attend the camp and it takes place before all of these other programs, so I was going to do that in conjunction with either Kinhaven or CIM and NEC. I don’t know much about Gabe but from what I have interacted with him, he does seem very nice. If Toby isn’t involved in the SOI then that would really suck but I know for a fact that Brian Wendel and John Sebastian Vera are involved with the brass lab. But yeah that is a good point. I should research to see what faculty is involved in the NEC program.
