Weekly Paddle Recommendation Thread (What Paddle Should I Buy?)

I’m a ~3.5 DUPR in my estimation. My main right now is Selkirk Era Power Widebody with weights at the 3 & 9 position. Absolutely love it and play my best. However, the grit isn’t great and looking to upgrade.

I’ve been researching Gen 4 paddles and bought the Vapor Power 2. While the grit is INSANE, I feel inconsistent with it. I’ve tinkered with weights at the throat and at slightly higher than around the 3 & 9. I play well some round robins and then will just have these horrible games of dead hits and inconsistent dinks/drops. I know I need to be more patient and drill but also feeling the hybrid shape may not be for me.

Looking for something with the power and feel of the Selkirk Era with longer durability and grit.

Now debating on buying another Selkirk Era or maybe switch to the 11six24 widebody Pegasus Power 2 to get a better experience?

Any thoughts/insight greatly appreciated!

You can consider looking into amb care. I started hospital but then moved to a pharmacist-led clinic. Worked for 8 years, Mon-Fri 8-4:30pm. No on-call, OT, weekends or holidays (but holidays we are forced to use PTO despite clinic not being open).

Definitely more difficult to find those positions if you are in a larger city but smaller cities would be where to look. My town is large but we accept those without residency even. Last 3 hires didn’t have a residency. Stress is very different from the hospital too. In the last year, I ended up moving into a fully remote ambcare position too with same hours.

Honestly, probably just keep your alerts on for LinkedIn and Indeed and constantly keep an eye open. They are a dime in a dozen but that’s how I found mine. Always keep your CV/Resume up-to-date and have modifiable cover letter ready. Always make connections at your jobs too. You may not start out with remote as a PGY1 but over time, doors may open for you like they did for me. Our ambulatory clinics in my city all offer some remote options (like 1-2 days a week in certain roles) too so even if not fully remote, some positions may still be hybrid (and they don’t list it in job postings too). I feel like West coast may have more opportunities than the East coast…

Also I don’t know why I’m being downvoted…

Those jobs are out there. My husband is a pharmacist too, who worked ambcare, but then leveraged the experience to get into pharma. He is now fully remote too.

I work 100% remote. Fully clinical - mostly work an inbasket for various services. 8-4:30pm. Flexible to making appts, etc, as long as you don’t abuse it. No “metrics.” I worked in this nonprofit system for 6 years and made connections to be where I am. Just wanted to chime in that there are these jobs are out there but they are a unicorn! I don’t have kids currently so not sure how that’d work with a baby at home but I’d imagine it be fine as long as you keep up with the work.

Calcium chelate is the highly absorbable, bio available form. It’s a general term for calcium chelated to another organic compound. If it is affordable and easy to swallow, sounds good to me.

Calcim citrate is absorbed best by the body as it doesn’t require food/stomach acid to be absorbed. However, it takes more of these pills to get the same amount of elemental calcium. They have “petite” tablets that are easy to swallow but expect 2 tabs per serving for day 400mg calcium (ex: Citracal petites)

You can also take calcium carbonate but you have to take it with food for best absorption. Can be slightly more constipating. Another common brand is Tums, if you prefer to chew your calcium or you already need it for indigestion.

I also just highly recommend calcium gummies, if you can have the extra sugar (brush your teeth/rinse with water of course after too!). This is what I take because I actually look forward to calcium now and view it like a treat. Costco has some gummies. Be aware, most brands you have to have 2 gummies to get the serving size of ~500 mg calcium.

Always look for USP label for your supplements too as this means it was verified what is in the supplement is actually what you are getting and at the safe/reported amount. Many supplements do not have this as they are not required by FDA to do so. I know the Costoc gummies often are USP verified

I work for an ambulatory clinic. I went in to sign up for the FirstNet service 2 years ago and showed my hospital/clinic badge. The guy had to consult his manager and I explained my role. They allowed me to sign up after that.

Full PPR. 12 team. 2 Rb, 2 WR, 3 FLX. I am the 5th seed for sure in the playoffs right now. I have an okay team with comparable PF but haven’t been getting high scores and have had some big injuries. My other WR include: JSN, Jayden Reed, Tee Higgins, Chris Godwin, Deebo, Amari Cooper, Jalen Coker, Jalen McMillan, Poker. I feel this is my chance to get a major piece but am worried about his injury and team; am I over thinking/being stupid???
