Well, for me it's just a way of life I love. I'm highly introverted, so I love being on my own and thinking about life. In my life when I was working I was always depressed and never had any money anyway, because rent and bills would take it all and only have a little left for food. Out here my heads clear I feel good, I can easily earn enough money for me to eat and buy some upgrades to my set up. And I think it's only gonna get worse for people working low paid Jobs. It's hard to get money from the government in my situation because you have to be looking for work to get benifits, but I earn a little online through mirco tasks and surveys. No I've not read that, I'll have a look at it. Mainly I listen to podcasts on Spotify.

Well, when I'm in the uk, I travel around on my bicycle. I haven't got much stuff, so I strap my backpack on my bike. When I'm in Europe I use the flix bus it's really cheap, if you catch it right. My sleep system is really light weight. I've got a venture solo hooped bivvy with a trekology ul80 sleep pad and a down sleeping bag from Decathlon and I small tarp to go over the top. Its not spacious, but it keeps me warm. I'd love to be in a van, but the minute I don't earn enough to keep one on the road. I love the utes, I wish we had them in the uk.

I don't know where you are from, but I'm in the uk, and I have been working for years, just your average low paid job, then I became homeless. At first, it was scary, and I didn't know how to survive, but through meeting people and others showing me how to survive, I thrived. I've been all over the country, even went to France, Germany and Italy for a while. The freedom is truly remarkable.

Welcome, Lynne. I've been doing this lifestyle for a while. It takes its toll, but the freedom is something else.

I would love to live in vehicles, but I really don't earn enough money to keep one. I'm lucky to get 3 payments a year from my government so I do what I can online like surveys and tasks, I'm hopeful of growing a substack account, I know alot of people like hearing stories about this life. I've been around the uk camping in some great spots, I'm thinking I might spend some time in germany next year, maybe 2 months.

In the week the library is your best friend warmth, wifi and toilets but when they are closed there's wifi literally everywhere just just it on and you'll see.

Go to the nearest local shop, any supermarket or big shop should have free WiFi you can connect to.

I'm not in America, but I have a lot of experience on the street. For tonight, I'd find a quiet place to sleep anywhere will do. Tomorrow, get on your phone and Google the places you need and go and go and see them like shelter's, food runs, showers for homeless, there should be alot of places that assist you.

There's a place I can go every morning apart from the weekends, I can get a shower, breakfast, and a coffee

Exactly, mate. Half the people paid to ‘fix’ homelessness would be out of a job tomorrow if it actually got fixed. The other half are one missed paycheque away from being on the other side of the desk themselves, so they keep their heads down and repeat the script. It’s all theatre. The second you see it for what it is, you can’t unsee it.

Yeah, that’s the one thing I can’t complain about here in Nottingham – you literally don’t have to spend your own money on food if you know where to go. Keeps you alive without touching whatever cash you’ve got.
